I have my YTM225 and picked up a seperate engine real cheap about a year ago. I found a 1986 moto4 that is a rolling chasis and was wondering if my spare engine would bolt in? Anyone know? I know the engines were pretty much the same design (moto 4 had the hi/low gear). I would have the moto 4 drive shaft to mate to the ytm egine output (if they even mate at all).

I think every Yamaha 4-wheeler was called a moto 4 back then just like all the Honda's were fourtrax. I know someone with a 225 moto 4 and my other buddy used to have a 100 moto 4 and now they have a 350 moto 4. '
I'm pretty sure this guy has the 225.

Yes the moto 4 is a yfm 225 and the trike a ytm 225. I'm not sure of the ability to swap but the motors are almost identical.

I would think that you can swap them out. The only thing that might not work is if one has reverse. You will need the rear end so get it to match shaft length.

And I had a MOTO 4 that was.....are ya ready.... a 250! :naughty: Heavy, but a great bike. Keep us posted on the build.

Is it a true moto- four engine. if it is the drive shaft comes out of the middle and goes through the middle of the swingarm. the three wheelers had the driveshaft go through swingarm. any other questions just send me a PM
