dood, your display is showing your low on gas, you better fill her up :D

That thing is sweet, what made you decide to use the lt frame just out of curiousity. I would love to do this swap with my 954 but its not justifiable.

(the low gas thing is light shining on the plastic) but she can only fit about a gallon of gas in the tank, but it lasts about 45 mins, it was hard to do the tank because of the fule pump size, and the airbox took up where the original tank was, now it is under the seat, you can see it in a pic its blue like the frame....i used this chassis because there are a good amount of them around, big engine bay, cheap, and they still have aftermarket parts for them....i couldnt bring myself to cut up a honda 250r, and it would end up being cheesy if i built my own

I think you made the right call on the frame. I don't think I could hack up a 250r frame either. I know those motors don't go cheap, where did you find it and what did you have to give for it, if you dont mind. It looks like you did a great job on the build, I know I would like to test that thing out. :w00t:
Bring it up to silver lake dunes and let me have it for about an hour. :D
The 954 is so reliable and a great motor. any ideas on top speed yet? Should be quick in the sand if it hooks up.

well, i got the motor a little over a year ago on ebay, at the time they were going relatively cheap because they are bullet-proof so there isnt anyone looking for a a motor because theirs is blown up, the 1000rr was coming out soon so nobody really cared about the 954 and the bike was still relatively new...i think i paid a little less than 1000 for it shipped to my door by DHL...it has less than 2000 miles on it and is in brand new condition and the company i got it from was extremely professional about dealing with me... now if you want one they are going for 1500+ complete C.A.R. kit like mine....

where is silver lake???i live in upstate new york, so......idk...

about the top speed....hope to break the land speed record on a quad soon, i am hording parts right now for the custom turbo kit, but so far i have had her up to 140MPH on back roads around my house, but that was in at the bottom of 5th and she was still pulling just had a turn up ahead, but holy crap the front end was dancing on the pavement the whole time.....

P.S. i have a death wish

I know my bike tops out at about 174 with stock gearing, stock motor. What is the record now for a quad? How small of a rear sprocket can you get for that lt? If you need one smaller than you can get from a dealer talk to sidewinder, I have had them make a custom sprocket for my 954. Silver lake is in northern michigan on the west side of the state.

yeah sidewinder is great...i am running their front sprocket right now, i had them cut me a 520 pitch sprocket one tooth smaller than the smallest they stocked and i got one, one tooth bigger than the smallest they stocked, they are great guys and they dont rip you off either!!!...

i have seen a bunch of different claims on world speed records, even a blind guy with a converted "super blackbird" with 400ex running gear i think....check google...

I dont belive you have had it up to 140 at all. My friends LT500 quadzilla that was tricked out blew a tire at 103mph and you dont have Hoosiers on there so i dont belive you at ALL. I belive it urs bike and nice job.

Nice conversion. Who made the exhaust? What material was used?

I can hit 140 in 4th gear on the bike, if hes hitting it in mid 5th it seems pretty close. These bikes accelerate like nothing you've ever seen. To put it into comparrison, this motor, (2002 954 4 cylinder) in a bike can go from 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds in stock form. A 2002 Ferrari Enzo 12 cylinder does 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. The 05 Corvette does 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. If you take into consideration the 954 only puts out about 143 hp stock thats pretty impressive. Depending on his gearing, tires and tire size on the quad I can see this bike hitting those speeds easy but I would definatly get some speed rated tires before I attempted it.

SORRY MAN, its true it really was up to 140....maybe his tires sucked to begin with, i have the holeshot HD's on there and they are 6 ply, they hold up, maybe they will blow out eventually, but they def oval out a whole lot going that fast...i do plan on getting some custom radial steel and/or kevlar belted tires made by dick cepek, i know some guys there....

the exhaust header and midpipe was stock, which is said to flow and make as much or more HP than any aftermarket header, i also chose to do this because it is stainless and with these motors you have to retain the "powervalve" type thing between the header and midpipe...i just had to heat it up and bend it a little under the pivot bolt to make it look and work right so it didnt hit the tire...i custom made the can out of mild steel tubing and my own baffle, it is basically a straight pipe....

They WILL blow at 110+. Knobbies wont hold up under that speed despite what ply they are. Knobbies start to wabble at at 110.

im not sure if your blind or just can't read, there not knobbies, they look nothing like knobbies, a 6 ply tire will hold up fine for a while at that speed...sheesh

http://www.ohtsutires.com/atv-tire-pages/b901.html that is a knobbie, that tire on that quad would not "wobbel" if it did, it would be very minimal its a 6 ply STIFF sidewall tire, if its on a smooth road it wont bounce, your talkin like it has 25x12x9 ballon tires on it...lol

i am going to get someone to radar it and i will take a pic of the radar when its radaring the 954...i swear that it was at 140!!!!! they arent "knobbies", they are kenda front max 4 ply fronts, and 6-ply holeshot hd's on the back, i dont care if you believe me cause i was there!
