Hi Folks,
My appologies for the non-trike related post, but I was hoping you all could help me out a little with a survey I am doing for a Social Research class.

Since I love 3 wheelers and beer, I figured I couldn't pick a better topic for research than the opinions of three wheeler enthusiasts regarding the National Drinking age.

Please follow this URL: http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB2244TZ5J8LE

I'm trying to get at least 50 surveys completed this week, so thanks in advance for all your help. Looking forward to tossing a couple back with you guys at Trikefest '05!

I was happy to take your survey. When I was 18, growing up in Virginia, the legal drinking age for beer and wine was 18. 21 for the hard stuff. Put the law back to this at least and see how it goes. The teenagers that were responible anyway will have no problems, and the irresponsible teens are going to get beer and wine and spirits illegally anyway.

When I came over to Florida last year we got asked ID everytime I ordered a beer. (Actually there was a German guy at Disneys Epcot park)

It was a complete shock as I was 26 and hadnt been asked ID for alcohol for 8-9 years. The girlfriend found it quite flattering that people thought she looked young, until they said they ID'd everyone who looked under 40.

One bar in Sarasota wouldnt even accept a UK driving liscence as ID, we had to go back to the hotel to get passports. As if the person checking could actually tell if either were genuine or fake.

I lived in Wyoming when the drink'n age was 18 & I LIKED IT!!! :beer
Then the Gov. convinced that state, the last one with 18 as the limit, to change it to 21. It was kind of easy to do, you change or we don't give the state any Federal highway $$$.
Cool thing is I was "Grandfathered" IN and could still go in the bars & drink, I was still only 19 and it was a hasle every time but I didn't let that stop me... :naughty:
So then I move to Arizona to go to collage & guess what, the drink'n age here was/is 21. So again I was NOT allowed to buy alkie anymore...
Crazy huh??? Not like I let it stop me anyway! :D :beer

Lets see @ 18 your old enough to drive, goto war & die... but ya can't catch a buzz leagaly!?!?! :(

See my theory is the same as what happened with gambling. I turned 18 when 18 year olds were allowed to goto casino's and gamble here. Well, then they changed it, and nobody was grandfaterhed in, and you HAD to be 21 to gamble.. In April I am turning 21, and i'm sure within the next few months it'll be JUST my luck for them to change the gambling age/drinking age to 25!!  :(

I did it yesterday!

Ditto

I also think that 18 is a great age for drinking. As long as the current laws still stand (and mabey a little more strict on drinking and driving) I think that it wouldnt hurt a thing. Im almost 18 and have been drinking for a couple of years. I know what I can handle and I dont drive afterwards. I give my keys to the host. :beer

I voted yesterday, I will be honest, im 17 and im not going to say I have never had a beer or two, I never drink and drive/ride, I rarely drink at all for that fact. I think 18 is a more apporpiate age. I gurantee you kids will be able to get beer if they really want it enough. Making them wait till 21 is redicoulus, they are LEGALLY an adult they can own a home, they can smoke, or die in a war but can't drink, people say this will hurt the devolpment stage of the brain, and I say so will smoking cigarettes and pot, so will a bullet, in war. I think this law is stupid and pointless, and thats why many kids turn to different drugs because it can be easier to get. I dont know, but this is the way I feel towards the subject.

I think that drinking is bad, but it should be 18 or lower. It is stupid that you can fight for your country but cannot have beer. That the age when you can buy something far more insidious, cigarettes! I smoke and cannot quit it seems! I think smoking weed ought to be legal at 18 as well. It is far less dangerous than alcohol consumption! As a parent, I would rather see my children smoking a joint versus drinking beer, anyday! :D
