I am wondering about the size of a Blaster (1988 or 1989). I am 6'2" and 260 pounds. I currently have a Polaris 425 Magnum. I have found what looks to be a decent deal on a Blaster. However, I am concerned that I will be too big for it. I am not planning on racing or anything, just having fun riding with the wife. She annexed the Mag... ;)

For a guy your size I dont think the Blaster would serve you well. Even 180-190 is pushing it a bit. Maybe you can get the Blaster for the wife to keep her off your 425!

Yup, that's what I was figuring... I am not sure how she would feel about a manual shift. She is spoiled to Variable Belt Drive. :) Have things changed from the old ATC days? I know back then a 200e had all the power a big guy could need. It seems like the 200's today don't have the same power or are they simply geared differently? I must admit most of my knowledge is of ATC's. My dad was the same size as me then and we had a 200e and 250sx that scooted him around pretty good. Is it an accurate statement to say that the quads need to be bigger? Or is this just a case with the Blasters? What about Quadsport 230's? Thanks for the guidance! Oh, what do you guys think about 200x's? They have the same engine as a 200e mostly, correct? If so, is there something about the frame that makes it unsuitable as well? Boy, am I long winded tonight! ;) Thanks!

a blaster has the balls to move you, but it's a small quad. my knees would hit the front fenders, and I'm a lil under 6'

200e and 200x have the same boar and stroke and engine mounts and that's about it. I think the 200e has electric start (am I right?), the 200x has kickstart. The 200x also has a manual clutch, higher compression, and a more adgressive cam. Just so you know, my uncle is about your size and rides a 110.

Its not because its a quad so much as the Blaster is a two stroke 200, as opposed to the 4 stroke 200's. It will pull you around, if thats what your shooting for, but if your doing any serious riding at all, it wasnt really designed for you, and if you decide to try to pull some steel hills, its gonna struggle. They had your typical 150 lb teen rider in mind, who wanted a sport quad. ALso its suspension is setup accordingly as well. The ATC's youre talking about were more utility in design, with a low end power 4 stroke motor, and low gearing. I had a TRX250 which is the quad version of the 250SX, and it would pull anything, but couldnt get out of its own way.

OK, I think I got ya'll! Many thanks for the responses! I think I will focus on something bigger! Maybe a 250 2 strokes or 200 four strokes and bigger! I think I can talk her into one of those. ;)

I weigh 196 and my blaster(2000) is a bit soft for me.I ride it hard most of the time. The stock suspension is only meant for riders up to 180.You will have fun on it but dont expect it to handle well on rough trails or mx track. If you can get it cheap, buy it and resell it and make a few $$.Good luck

Yeah, Im 6'4 260 and my 250sx was way to small for me. Now my knees hit the handlebars, really. It makes it hard to turn. You would be very cramped on the Blaster although you might be able to talk your wife into buying a Banshee

I'm 6'1 250lbs. and although the blaster is small it can pull me around fine,,, it is a fun quad, if you can get a good deal go for it,,,, I haven't ridden one long distances, but for quick blasts and some trail riding it is fun and it wheelies pretty good, I imagine it is because of the short wheelbase...... All in all, its fun in a very small package,,,,

Well, what do you guys think about a 1987 Yamaha Warrior?

I just got a little more info on it. He says it has been bored out to a 400 and the top end was just rebuilt. He said that one of the a-arms was broken and that it needs TLC. He is asking $500.
