If you have a question about why something was removed then email one of the moderators / admin's. We will try to explain that way.

At the moment, I don't know why the posting was removed. I am trying to find out.

Was it posted for sale in the classifieds or anywhere else on 3WW?

I think he was asking how much it was worth because he was thinking about buying it.

Ummm, I DO want it, however, not for that price... There are plenty of people on here interested in older cool trucks too, ya know to haul their ATC!?!?! I was just comunicating that to others who may know more about the subject than I, & possibly shead some more light on it. & I still don't "SEE WHY", as you put it!

Plus don't you think that a moderator would let you know why/when they deleted a post or two, especiall when I didn't see it as insulting or piss'n anybody off?

All I can do is echo what Howdy said, that we are checking into it and will let you know, ok? :)

Wouldn't it be alot easier to pm the person to let them know that you mods remove a post and why? :wondering On .org i had a topic removed and they pm'ed me that they removed it and why. I think it would save some headaches. :p

I removed these posts. First, if you are selling something, it goes in the classifieds. 2nd, the classifieds are for bikes and ATV's, no trucks. 3nd, I did not send a PM, because it was obvious to me you knew why the first one was removed, by the way you reworded it the 2nd time to try to get around the rules against posting a truck for sale ad. If you want to sell your buddys truck, put a line in your signature with your email or something, or alink in your signature but dont start a thread to sell your truck. We took the wheeling and dealing out of the other forums, and the classifieds forum is for ATV/dirt bike related items.

.... listen it was harmless, totally, I don't think anyone was thinking you were trying to get one over on anybody with the first post - its just it didn't fit in the rules, thats all and thats why it was removed. Your ignorance of the rules dosent make it right though. Try and explain that one to anyone in some sort of authority. It was totally a "Truck for Sale ad"
Anyway he's ask'n $8K, check it out & let me know if ya want his info., whether or not you were thinking about buying it and we just don't allow that on here. We are trying to keep this as focused as possible and yes the open forum is for any chatter thats not really ATV related - except for one thing - we don't allow items for sale in there, and Tim already explained that pretty well. Your second post was perceived as an attempt to get around it of sorts and that might or might not be the case - but - it was removed as well because of that. Sorry you didn't get your PM, but there is too much to do around here in policing this board to have to worry about everybodys feelings all the time. It was pretty obvous to all of the MOD's after we looked at it, why it was removed, and it would have been obvious to the rest of the board too. If you had worded your first post the way you presented your second post, there wouldn't have been any problem.

I have no problem with your postings on the forums. Im just trying to clarify the rules in this case. Let me give an example, you tell me what you would do as moderator. You see this post, and what would YOU do?

My brother has a washer and dryer for sale. The washer is a GE and its 5 years old. The dryer is an electric Whirlpool, and just had the drive belt replaced. These are both located near Akron, Ohio, and need to be picked up the buyer. These would work great to wash your muddy ATV riding clothes. If you are interested, email me, and I will give you my bothers phone number. What is your opinion on GE washers, and is this a good price?

So, you tell me, Is this a classified? Is this somebody who wants to sell a washer and dryer through the forums and technically get around the rules, or is this somebody who sincerely wishes to have a discussion on the merits of a GE washing machine and their resale values? Is it allowed in the classifieds as ATV related since you can wash riding clothes in it?

We try to make the rules simple, but there are always people trying to find a technicality to get around it, instead of trying to abide by the spirit under which the rules were made. We dont want to keep making rules more techincal to where you need an attorney to understand them, so loopholes and technicalities arent going to fly. If we allow you to post the truck then we would have to allow the washing machine ad. The intent of the rules is to keep buying and selling in the classifieds, and guys have been trying to get around these rules by posting "whats it worth?" or "is this a good price?" and every other wording to try to sell things in other forums and my patience with it is very low. The other intent is that we decided we werent going to provide bandwith to turn this into an unlimited free sales site, so we limited items to ATV and dirt bike related. We have had to make hard decisions on whether certain items are ATV related, and we decided that cars and trucks are not ATV related just because an ATV will fit inside or because they have a trailer hitch.
In my signature you will see that I am selling a van. I cannot post it in the classifieds and I cannot make a post in the general forum to discuss whether "my asking price is fair" and if "its a good deal." My motive would be pretty transparent, and I follow the same rules I enforce.

No disrespect here, just want to clarify the "what is a classified ad and what isn't a classified ad" questions so I don't make the same mistake AZ250R did.

What you're saying is that by having a link or listing something for sale in your signature, someone can PM you for more info if they see your signature on any post or thread you might write or respond to anywhere on the board. It's kind of like free advertising across the board but isn't really considered a classified ad. That sounds like a loop hole in within a loop hole.

That is correct. Your signature is your space. The only things we have ever removed or asked to be removed are things that were not suitable for a family message board (I dont think I need to explain what that is) and pictures that are so large that they widen the entire thread, or are so big as to be annoying to scroll through, and in those cases we ask the person to simply resize it smaller. AZ250R has a good example of a perfect size one that looks super. If somebody PMs you, or sends you an email because of whats in your signature, that is perfectly fine. Thats not us hosting it, and its not sucking up our bandwidth. If somebody puts a post on the forum saying "Hey Mr Sandman, how much do you want for that washer and dryer in your signature?", and you start wheelin' and dealin' on it on a message forum, that thread will get removed.
