Well I'll be damned....I just finished installing a speedo on my big red last week and thought I was doing pretty good. Now there are 6 million of them on ebay lol. Check out this guy's auctions:

HAHA... I say final bid on that 250R one is gonna be: $249.78

BTW: does it matter how it's calibrated, KPH or MPH? Does it make a difference?

Yeah, I bet that 250R one will bring in a good $ price..I don't think it matters how the gearbox is calibrated, it's the speedo head that converts the movement into mph or km/h.

My 250r speedo on the face says ATC. It also doesn't have the color ring. It also is a km/h type. FWIW

Well... depends on what year 250R it's for.... that's the question you should be asking! :naughty: The left hand gear boxes are easy to come by. A 83-85 200X kit is almnost identical to 83-84R kit.... The right hand kit for the 350X and 85-86R and the SX/ES are the harder to get ones.

The heads he is selling are the ones that Honda has used since 87/88. I bought a new speedo head for my 82R and that's what I got. (couple months ago) I had a sealed kit from 1987 for a 4 wheeler TRX300, and that was the style speedo head that was in it. However, the speedo on my 350X right now I've never seen a second one. It's black just like the ATC one, but says Honda only.

I'll buy his speedo for when I find my 87 ATC 250r. That shouldn't be too hard to do. He He

I'm not sure what year R that speedo kit is for? I'm assuming it's for the 85-86...someone could email him and ask..

Im pretty sure that if its calibrated to km/h that it would make a mp/h face read incorrectly. Thats the way it goes in my car anyway, going from a mph guage to a kmh guage makes it read all wrong.

I know this is a Honda thread, but I figured I would ask any way (you never know). Has any body heard os a Yamaha kit? I found soem information on getting an after market kit for a couple of my older quads. But no luck on the trikes.

The things on the far LEFT are the ones that are hard to find!

The speedos are in age from L-R... ATC (~83-86), Honda Only (86 only? never seen another) Chrome/Red (87-Present) Chrome/Red was in an unopened kit from 87 and also I ordered from Service Honda last month.

The part number is 08175-HA000, so it's not an 85-86 kit.

Oh really, that stinks...I bet most people who are bidding on it probably assume it is for the 85-86 R. The guy selling it should state the part # of the kit.

HA0 is the 85-87 BigRed isn't it? NMaybe he thought you were talking about another auction? Seems like he had 2 Big Reds, a 200X and a 250R kit...

Yes HAO is for the big red 250es and HA2 is for the 85-86 R. I think that MaineTriker emailed the guy about the 250R kit to get the part # of it. Yeah he is selling kits for the 200X, 250ES, 200ES, and 250R..

Yeah I think HA0 is the Big Red kit. Guess he got confused on which kit I was asking about.

Yet someone else asked him and got 08175-964 as a reply.... how hard can it be to read a p/n???

:wondering

Damn. What a waste. I got up at 1.30am this morning to bid on either one of those speedo kits. I thought I had the cheaper one till just at the end when some B****** sniped it out from under me. What a shame.

And the hunt continues.

I have a grand total of $15 in my 350X's speedo setup. :naughty: Suckas! Lol. Still havent gotten the gear hooked up. Im waiting on my new Kenda front max tire to show up at the house first. I dont wont to tear it down twice. Still havent gotten the wires straightened out. I think my front headlight wires have been molested before. Not certain though. I also got a honda odometer for $10 for the BigRed.
