Hmmm... nice Lakota vs 300ex

Just got a deal on a 300 Lakota, pretty fun machine. Couldn't decide between this and a 300ex but then the price worked for me. Any opinions in regards to comparing the two?.

The manual clutch of the 300EX can be seen as an advantage to some. The 300EX is also a 4-valve motor vs the Lakotas 2-valve and is quicker reving with more horsepower (I remember reading that they have 2 less than a Mojave, which has 18hp). The Lakota has more suspension travel than a 300EX, and has an inch or two longer swing-arm than the Mojave which it shares its frame with. They are a pretty good trail quad, I used to ride with a guy who had a Blue Lakota Sport. I think it was an '97 or whatever the first year was without racks.

i never heard of a lakota. got any pics. Also, wicked do you have any other pics of that quad in your posts. Is the a scrambler?

I hadn't heard of the Lakota till about 4 months ago. I read up on them and only heard good things. I wanted a utility machine but wanted to have some fun too. I get the best of both worlds on this machine. It is not the fasted on the top end but it has a lot of tourqe. The suspension is really nice too. I do miss the clutch but it is nice in tight trails or when making new trails and you don't have to worry about the clutch.

A 1999 model...Man i must be out of the loop! They have been around a while and that is the first time I've seen one. I should get out more lol. Looks like a nice ride though. I had a Kawi prarie 400 and never had a problem with it mechanically...only cosmetically. lol

Yeah, they've been around sincd 1995 and stopped making them in 2003 or 04. They are a fun machine with long suspension, more than a 300ex. Only thing about them is that they are heavy machines but the 300 and gearing take care of that. Really snappy for an automatic.

HOw are the Scramblers? I like the look though I once had a Cyclone and hated the PVC, didn't think it was snappy enough? I heard the Scramblers are pretty heavy too?

Scramblers are pretty heavy too? You could safely drop the question mark at the end of your sentence and replace it with a period, turning it into a statement. With all of the aftermarket parts I've bolted on her - shes gotta be over 500lbs now - but - she also flies.
HOw are the Scramblers? ... well this one is my second Polaris in 10 years (my first was one of the first Generation III bodied 400L Sports to come off the line in late 1995) that should tell you something.

My buddie has a 02 lakota 300 that he wants sell for $1500. Its a little small but a great machine.His Is also blue

I'm six feet and I don't think that it is small at all. It is really fun to throw around and has plenty of power. $1500 is a really good deal for that machine for the year, they book pretty high and originally went for almost $4k I think.
