The Delaware River near my parents home crested at 27' above flood stage at around 1pm today. My parents along with about 1000 other peole are stranded on their "new" island because all the roads and bridges are cut around them. I was able to get in by Mountain Biking down a railline and across the tressle then down a steep grade into their area (I took about a 25' tumble down the hill and into some briars). I keep my '83 ALT125 there so I fired her up and took a couple of pics.

haha i live on an island... all the rain runs right into the Atlantic right here, so we're set unless we get phenomenal tides

Man....it looked just like that towards town last fall...we had 9 inches of rain in a few days time. The water was 27' above flood stage!

Makes me glad that I live on a BIG hill. Best of wishes to your family there...hope all their stuff makes it out OK

my basement flooded this year too, I hate basements. It smells like mold down there and the carpet is probaly moldy underneath.
The thing thats stupid is i live on the top of a hill and it flodd every time there is big rain. I think the people who built this house didnt put weeping tile in or soemthing.

that reminds me of my garage, at this time of the year all the snow is melting and it has formed a 4 inch layer of ice in my garage ,then when it warms up it turns into water 4 iches deep, every god dang year, i have got to fix this problem this summer.

I got that problem too... city re-did out street last summer.. filled the ditches and gave us drain pipes.... well

my driveway is LEVEL with the street.. no incline to speak of, and my garage gets FLOW of water when the snow melts..

I called the city.. talked to the engineer... wasted my time pretty much.
