i have a 8 hp tecumpseh engine and i was just wondering what will happen if i remove the linkage going to the governor, i have heard that it will blow your engine, and ive heard it will only blow it if you are always having it at full throttle, so what is the real answer to my question, all i wana do is have more power and i heard this was a trick to do it.

yeah...thats it, i mean you can hammer on it for a while, just dont hold it wide open all the way down your road....i havent thrown a rod, but think about it, briggs and tecumseh's arent meant to be revved much over 4 g's max, and without the governor shes going into the high 5's....hahaha

briggs will do about 7000rpm and still be pulling, but barely, tecumseh have VERY weak rods compaired to b&s, i see thrown teh rods all the time at 5000rpm, as i used to repair/race lawn tractors
