or lawn as some of you call it !! :p

Got a house a year and a half ago.. and it's time to buy a lawn mower.

One came with the house. but it's shot...... i won't even bother to fix it.. it starts right up.. but once warm.. forget it, you let go the handle to pick up a pice of dog poop and it won't start until it cools down . ...... . . no matter.

I'm gonna get a 6.5 HP either Briggs or Honda.. Tecumseh also makes them around here...

What i want to know.. is should i bother with Self Propelled ? or not ?

Not a huge yard.. i can do it on a full tank.. less than an hour.. then comes the trimmer.. got a craftsman gas powered one... and then the leaf hog/ blower to clean things up.

So.. self propelled or not ?

Do those things last for any more than a season ? worth the extra 200 $ ??

I have an self propelled mower and i think it is worth the extra money. You are not braking your back pushing the mower. All you have to do is walk with it and turn it.

the self propelled mowers with variable speed are nice. to me the single speed ones are too slow.

Yeah.... single speed.. = granny pace.

I'm looking at a TORO self pace.. toro makes good stuff. but about 500 $

Mine needs a tune up or something. It smokes sooo bad after a couple minutes i can't see where I'm going. I would rather cut grass then shovel snow anyday!

i bought a 6 1/2 hp briggs mower with the big back wheels in the back, what a piece of crap. the wheels always fall of and the motor is idled so low that if you skip a week of cutting your grass you are screwed. it will die everytime. plus it is as hard as hell to push. with this mower i cant get my wife to mow it for me anymore, WOMEN!

Could always get a goat !!!!!! but the dog would freak !... LOL..

I'm really tempted, if i get a self propelled... it will be the Toro.. Home-Depot i guess.

I'm not getting a murray.. too much bad feedback .

Thanks for the input tho. !

Yep.. rear drive.

For 400 . i had front drive.. single speed.

for 600 . rear drive, and personal pace.. it's awsome... the harder you push, the faster it goes.. you can literally take the ting for a jog !!!!
