I paid the dam 60$ and bought SpySweeper. It's all set up to run automatically and my homepage still gets changed !! I also have a problem with pop ups but never on 3WW or most any other sites. It's mainly when I'm in my Yahoo mail account that it goes crazy with pop ups and tells me I'm infected and to "click here to remove it". Of course I never click there but I would like to know how to remove these programs that got installed on my PC or a web site that can help me remove it without adding even more garbage to my PC. Ive gone and done the activescan at Pandascan but still have these problems. I think this Spyware program was a waste of money. Any help is appreciated, thank you!!

I had problems like that a while back. It finally just overran my computer. We had it cleaned up and I just went to WalMart and bought Mcafee anitspy we run it once a week and don't have any problems. I don't plan on downloading any more free stuff off the net, I personnaly think it has spyware and crap in it.

Downloading free stuff is a biggie, my nieghbors computer got thrashed from going to porn sites. I would stay away from sites you clearly dont trust, read the description of the site and look at its URL before clicking on it, this can often give you an idea of what you are about to get into. You can go into TOOLS on the internet screen, Then when the drop down menu shows click internet options, then under temporary internet files hit delete cookies and then delete files. This will only get rid of a little of the spy ware. We have Spy subtract and it works great. Also if you have system restore you can restore your computer to a date before you got all the spy and ad ware. Just my .02

All you need to know is HERE. (http://pcpitstop.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=61975)
Look around the site for tons of great info and help.
Reformatting is a last resort and not nessecary except for extreme cases. Backing things up is always a good idea but don't reformat.
As far as pop-ups go, Google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) will block 90% of them and it has a handy search window. It will want to collect info but you can turn the feature off with no loss of functionality.

I would have to say that if you have spyware pretty bad, you will have to reload the system. I know for a fact that some computers get infested so bad that it would take a tech like me days to get it cleared out and really not worth the money and time. I would get a flash drive(pin drive) 512k or more and load all your stuff on that and kill the system.

You can go ahead and reinstall windows as many times as you'd like but if you don't take the time to learn a little about dealing with these things your going to be reinstalling alot. Reinstalling is A LAST RESORT!
Anything can be fixed with the right tools. First of all, I wouldn't expect the best PC advice from a 3 wheeler forum. This is the place for advice on motors, wheels, ride spots, etc.
Go to PCpitstop (http://pcpitstop.ibforums.com/)and post your questions in the forum.
Spyware can take many different forms such as, adware, trojans, hi-jackers, etc.
Need advice on your machinery, come here. This forum is a wealth of knowledge on such matters with a combined experience I cant even imagine.
Want advice on your PC, go to the PIT for the same reason.
You guys wouldn't rebuild your engine before troubleshooting it would you? Get some advice from the experts before you decide what needs to be done.

i use the adaware SE and it works awesome. also, the reason that 3WW dosent have spyware and pop-ups is because those companies dont pay to advertise on this site and others. thats why sites such as yahoo get them as they make money from advertisers.

You call people on that site experts.....HAHAHAHA :D :D :D
Thats like saying all the guys here are trike experts. Sorry but you cant trust online people 100%. Now mind you, there is plenty of good info there, but to do tech support over the internet or the phone is very hard to do when you cant really see all the factors that are involved in this problem.
I do believe that some preventive measures need to be taken or it will happen over and over again. Every system that I have fixed, I had added those measures, just so I dont have to deal with them on a monthly basis. I would, however, go online and get an understanding on what spyware, adware, popups, trojans, viruses, etc., are; then you might be able to figure out why you are getting them and stop it from happening. Look for someone local to assist in this manner, be better if its a neighbor, friend or someone related to you due to the cost ratio.................peace

Well I disagree with this statement. I saw this is the easiest and most effective way of dealing with spyware, much like Scott did. Some systems can be cleaned of big infestations, but what people fail to realize is that in doing so, part of the OS is usually damaged, especially things such as the SSL *secure socket layer* which you use to log into things like ebay, or paypal for instance. It just doesn't make any sense to spend hours and hours trying to clean it out, when it takes 30 minutes to reload. I wouldn't trust any spysweepers or programs that cost 60 bucks either. It's been my finding that no matter how many different programs I run, *and I've tried most of them* one program can show the system clean, when the next one you run catches a ton more. The best approach is to make a small partition for the C: drive, say 5 or 10 gig, and then put all your files you wish to save on a seperate partition. That way, you can pretty easily reformat the C: drive and not worry with having to backup every time. Firefox web browser is also good, especially since 90 percent of people that get spyware are surfing porn.

Download Adaware SE. best program to get rid of spyware and adware. Id run this program after I ran spysweeper and id find about 60 other files. click here http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

As for reinstalling, well if you know what your doing and you have everything backed up then go for it. I had to do it on my aunts computer because she had spyware real bad. Dont ever reformate the computer yourself if you dont feel comfortable doing it.

i found the same thing....ad-aware says its clean....and another program finds stuff.....so i just reinstalled windows....it is really the easys and most effective way to do it....and i run ad-aware once in awhile ...and ad-aware seems to work the best out of all of them

hmmm, dont go to porn sites, reinstall windows by having the hard drive blanked and reinstalling, install microsoft antispyware have it and windows auto-update, have it run every night and dont download stupid stuff and you wont ever have any software problems... have your internet explorer cache clean itself out every couple days too...
