1989 Jag 340 DLX, hood repainted a teal color, good track, new skis, 1 broken lower tibia bone... this sled started me out $450, now it has cost my parents about 10000,,, guess if it was gonna cost that much i shoulda bought a new one (or a nice project 350x and the funds for it)

Here is my vintage sled (78 yammie exciter 440). Bought it this past winter with 1900 miles and it still had the original belt on it! Its fun to take out once in awhile, makes me love my rev even more!

My friend has about 50 old vintage sleds (mostly motoski's) but a whole lot of other brands as well. His "squad" is the skidoo on wheels in the links page, but he's modded it a whole lot since those pictures were taken!

I've got a 1979 John Deere Trailfire 340. Used it on the trails a couple of times, and worked pretty good, till i jumped it one day and broke the track at home. Then i took the motor out of it, and put it in a 1979 John Deere Liquifire, and it still runs pretty good. In 100 yards, it will go 70mph on the speedo, then i run out of room.
Its not the newest sled around, but it runs good enough. I got both sleds for free from my dads friend, and all i bought was a fuel filter for $0.98, a belt for about $20.00, probably about 25 gallons of gas, and oil to premix with it, so its been a cheep sled so far.

I have a 1985 pantera 440LC. Its junk. Motor finally died last year and its still on original bore with original pistons and rings. Body is rough and fiber glass hood has seen better days. I also got a 1986 El Tigre 5500. Also 440LC. It was partially restored by my step dad. Looks great, But, engine only runs on 1 cylinder and I took the engine apart to get to the sprockets and chain inside the case for the Pantera. I was just thiinking about putting that engine back together and seeing if I could fix the engine. It could be just the coil? I think my step dad tried everything he could but he could not fix it. Weird.

I love the old yamaha SRX 440's, I have 2 of them. They are both 1979's, but one has a 77 SRX engine with 77 pipes. These babies run, a stock 77 made almost 100hp, the 79 only had about 80hp stock. Back in the day the SRX & Merc snow twisters were the ones to beat. They were so light, the twisters were lighter then the SRX. I wish I could find a 76 Merc snow twister. They were the liquid cooled ones, I think they weighed less than 300lbs. Here are a couple pic's from the drags in Michigan. These old sleds rule the strip, all the new 440's are to heavy & don't stand a chance in 500'. Alot of the sanctioned races won't let the SRX & merc's run in the standard 440 class unless they add some weight. Then they still kick arse.:w00t:

Those are some nice looking sleds. 300lbs with a 440 in it? That thing must fly! But without rear suspension (ball slappers) it must be a rough ride. I know my Pantera is..

Thats why you drag them on the nice smooth ice. :Bounce The fast guys with the new big sleds tie the rear suspension down, or run aftermarket drag suspension.:beer

I have a 64' Ski-doo Silver Bullet 294, and i was wondering if someone would be able to pinpoint a problem i'm having. In my right cylinder, i have no vacuum at all and my carb just spits the extra gas out the overflow...when its running(not very well) if i put my hand over the left side it dies...over the right, and there is not suction......Whats wrong with my sled? cracked cylinder wall or what?
What is the compression on the no running cylinder? pop the head off kinda sounds like you blew the headgasket...or a bad plug/coil

I have a 1980 Chrysler Sno-runner  still have to test it out to see how it does. My friend has like 20 vintage sleds in really nice condition that he rides often, he showed me his TNT 340 I think it was and now I want a 440 . Anyone have a pic of a 440?

My sis just got an old Arctic Cat Kitty Kat from our neighbors... it's at least 15 years old, judging by the stickers on it (green stripes like on the old 80's "Cats")

I have a early 70s elan 250 twin and a early 70s single cyclinder olympic, mainly use the olympic for packing the trails around here when the snow is too deep for the newer sled, much easier to get the older ones unstuck. I need a crank for the 250 twin, guy I got it from let it sit outside and its very rusty. Check out this guys site, he's got over 600 sleds. I read a article about him and he's got some rare ones, a couple brands only 2 were made of and both of them were to be crushed, but somehow one excaped the crusher, now he's got it, reading that gave me hope for the unheard of '87 ATC's.

My trike Sucks, If you look at post #11 that I posted. The 3rd pic from the left, The sled on the right is a Merc snow twister. I don't know what a SR4 looks like, But I do know that Mercury also made trail twisters. The trail twister looked somewhat like the snow twister, but the S.T. was alot lighter & had a real short track & was slammed on the ground. The S.T. is worth 2 to 3 times the money of the T.T. I have seen 340 S.T. & 440 S.T., they also made a 250, all the hoods look close to the same, but I have never seen a 250 on the ice in Michigan. I hope to find a 76 liquid cooled 440 twister that someone has no clue what it's worth sitting in there garage real cheap someday. That would be a dream come true.

Here is a zoomed pic of what I believe is a 76 340 liquid cooled snow twister, with another in the back. I raced this one with my srx & beat him by a very small margine.
