If you are talking overall, Yamaha takes it. Honda has been playing catch up ever since they discontinued the trx250R. As far as trikes go, Honda is the clear cut winner. If you want my own opinion, Kawasaki should be becuase they have some high factory horsepower engines. I did cast my vote to yamaha btw.

Without a doubt its Honda. They are bar none the most reliable, the best built, and for the most part they have set the standard for looks. They invented the ATV and perfected it. They even bested Suzuki quickly in quads as well.

Honda playing catch up? wtf are you talking about? honda set the bar with the trx250r, the banshee didnt catch it, it goes fast in a simi-straight line and thats it, a raptor shure didnt, so how can yamaha be better? And ya a 400ex isnt the best quad, but the handeling is so much better than any yamaha. Only recently with the introduction of the 450's has the trx250r had any close compition. The only thing yamaha had was more 2 stroke options.

Go look up sales history between the 2 companys and tell me who is in the lead.
the YFZ450 despite its probelms is the just a tad bit faster than the trx450R. The 400ex isnt liquid cooled wich is pathetic. Yamaha had the raptor and banshee which were both liquid cooled. They stoped production on the 250R which was a mistake. There for yamaha started to take a lead. I say yamaha is better as far as company standings go. They bring in more profit than honda. I will also say I rather ride a 450R than a YFZ450. Hondas are very reliable and you can run them into the ground. Honda lost the bar when they quite production of the trx250R, it was a great quad. I am not a honda hater, I am just saying what I belive from the company status.

Honda set the bar. A banshee has HUGE proublems! They are so damn tempramental! And as soon as you start to upgrade one you mine as well strap a time bomb to it!
Hondas are bulletproof. Honda researches their stuff way more than yamaha does, it's obvous! Just look at the reliability records man! Yamaha has one awsome quad. The YFZ. the raptor has no pep. The banshee is a timebomb with a short fuse, and the blaster always breaks its stupid a-arms! Yamahas tri-Z came in 3rd to kawasaki and honda! so there....

I don't know for sure but have seen in some magazine that Honda has 30 to 40 % of the ATV market with Yamaha and Polaris fighting it out for a distant 2nd. Profitability as a company would probably still go to Honda, based on the fact that they sell more quads than Yamaha or Polaris. Like I said before if those numbers were correct, then Honda is probably more profitable.

Now, as for which company brings in more money....Honda does. Yamaha dosent make cars, SUV's, a new full size pickup, lawnmowers, generators, ect.... :p

Yamaha bring in more profit than honda?????? NO WAY!!!!!!! in 1988 yamaha nearly went broke because they tried to match the honda line up bike for bike.... (street bikes,atv,mx etc) nearly took them down!!!! and if you take it to today then honda make 40% of the worlds total of atv's....numbers speak for them self
