ok.
I need to aquire the following:
- Torque Wrench.. click type
- Micrometer to check cylinders cams, etc.... gonna need inner and outer right ?
- Digital vernier caliper
I don't need snap-on quality as they won't be used on a daily basis.. but do need to be reliable and accurate enough to do the job correctly.
So...... fire away !!!

I know the mastercraft torques wrenches are accurate my father has one,as for the micrometer i'd probally get a snap-on or something similar for that cause you want that to be 100% accurate..

I'm curious how you measured the accuracy of your fathers torque wrench?
i dont have a digital venier caliper but i do have one from crappy tire called an imperial, its a polyurathane type plastic, has a dial on it with mm and std it works great and was 40$

To be accurate with a mic you have to use it everyday. A person just can't pick up a mic and be accurate with it. I can garantea that you can mic a cylinder 3 times and get a different number every time.
I would buy everything CRAFTSMAN

I wait till the big truck of tools comes to town and visit the local lions club and buy what I need. Mostly Cummins I think is the brand name.

Mext time they come to your town let me know. I need to get with this company and see when and where they will be near here. A phone number would really be handy. I ask this because I am in need of some tie downs. Thanks to my boy I lost the 20 tie downs I had ( I originally bought them from Cummins ). They had the best deal on them ( quality, length, and price ).

well i used it to torque the heads on my old mustang and a week later when i was at a buddies house getting new exhaust put on i used his snap-on torque wrench to check the torque of the head bolts and it was right on the button so i'm assumming there both accurate..

check out harbor frieght, they have alot of tools really cheap. like veriers and mics. they do have alot of junk, but there are some good deals on some descent tools. Ive bought a set of verniers from them, digital i think i paid 10 bucks, they are pretty descent and as accurate as the ones the machine shop at my school has ( i tested them). i have not bought any micrometers from them though. id imagine theyd be descent. if you want to measure inside dimensions with a micrometer you need to get a set of expanding type things, ( i cant think of what they are callled) they are a T shape and when you twist the knob on the top they spring out . then you twist the konb the other way and it locks them out so you can use a regular set of mics to measure it. It basically transfers internal measurements to external measurements accurately. Hope it helps, if you need help selecting a quality mic or vernier let me know. i can probly help steer you the right way

Good thing about craftsman is i have a Sears close by.. so any returns or repairs are a drive away.....
If i buy online.. i have to trust that it ships intact and e-bay brands i never liked.
Thanks for the advice guys !!!!
