If you've got that kind of budget stick with the 450's. Either one is good, it's just a matter of what brand you prefer.

Go with the best dealer. From that pick the bike best suited to your riding style.

1. If your gonna race a 450 for sure.
2. If your just gonna trail ride buy the one thats most comfortable for the long rides.
3. For me electric start is a must.
4. Do you need reverse?

I'd go with a honda 450r for trails and such and even if you want to race, myself electric start is a option for me, I like to have a kicker as a backup atleast. I've been left a few times with a blown fuse, dead battery, broken battery cables, etc. the only time a kicker has left me stuck was when it flew off the bike and disappeared. I had to be pull started by a quad, thankfully a 200x is pretty easy to bump start. If you don't know, yfz450's have problems with the electric start, at the track there was two guys who were having problems and wishing they had a kick start.

What he said. But I say go with the 450R because it's a Honda. :p

I would recommend staying away from the 1st year of the 700 until they get the bugs out. The old 660 craptors are serious torque monsters, but I dont find them to be the most comfy machine after a days ride. Just an oppinion.

You can always look at the aftermarket for comfy seats. I would think there would be a desert seat available for them...that is the ultimate in comfort right there. :D

The 660R Raptor is a good machine after they worked out the 01 bugs. I will warn you though, if you modify it, get ready for alot of work on your hands. I had 2 Raptors an 01 and an 04. Both were great untill I decided they werent fast enough, then the wrench time never stopped.

Dude get the 700r cause for the price of a 450 you could put a couple of hundred in to it to make it so nothing could ever touch it including suspension mods if needed because the new 700r is suppost to have many suspension pieces off the yfz 450's

Put it this way, the Z400 shouldn't be in the presence of the TRX450 and the YFZ450, it's not even the same kind of quad. The 450's are racers, the Z400 is a trailrider.

But you should get a 700R. Just because it has the number 700 in it. :D

Don't underestimate the z400, you can work it into something real nice. Just ask Doug Gust and Jeremiah Jones.

Yes, you CAN make it into a world class racer.

IF you have a factory racing sponsorship and just about bottomless pockets. The 450's come way more race-ready stock.

http://www.3wheeler.org/vb/images/smilies/doh.gifDon't know much about Gust do you? He built the z400 before suzuki did and won titles without the bottomless pockets of factory sponcership. Up untill suzuki sponcered him he was just like every other racer, trying to get sponcers and working to support himself. They don't call him digger doug for his riding skills, it's what he's been doing for a living the last decade.

Doh! I really ought to read up on my GNCC racers, eh? Sorry!

But I think I made a valid point, a stock YFZ 450 will always beat a stock Z400. Always.

Did you realize that the 90 a month is only for 12 months with yamaha and then it jumps up considerably, go with the honda

The 700r is suppost to be faster and handle better then the 450 as it supposidly said in dirt wheels mag. It wins in drags and in the woods but i dont know about the mx track? I dont think it does

Dirtwheels is wrong. Yes the 700 is impressive stock. But it is now where near as good handling as a 450 for all out balls to the wall riding. My uncle has a 700 and his boy has a yfz450 and i would take the 450. I think if your just wanting a nice fast machine with some nice features pick the 700, because you will be very happy.

As far as drags i don't know the yfz is higly modded and the raptor was stock. I do know the raptor done very well in the drags this fall against other new quads.

All i know is sincei put my lowering kit on my raptor it has handled better then my friends 450. It also sits about an inch lower then his 450 also and we both can contest to that. All it would take to get the 700 to handle better would be some simple suspension mods.
