I picked up 1988 Trx 125 for one of my sons. I was checking it out and when you pull on the handle bars the (WHOLE) steering shaft moves up about 1 inch or so   , then you can push it all back down. And there is also some play back and forth when you steer it. Is there a way to correct all this? My thoughts are busings etc. And if so, where could I get these parts?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

John

I'm guessing there should be a nut on the bottom on the steering stem that holds it in place.

The tie rod ends are probably loose causing the side to side play.

There is a bushing that goes between steering shaft and upper frame .(Just below handle bar area) . Like was said above there is a dust shield, bearing, and bearing lock nut. there is a cover and clamp over the lock nut.( Torque steershaft to 29-43 lbs. ) Inspect these items. Honda should have what you need. This will take care of shaft movement. then check your tie rods ect. It's nice to have a repair book for items like this.We had a 87 model and I looked the info up for you.
