Here's a picture of the wife's tecate. If you look close you will see it has a 250-r heart. Paid $200.00 for the quad, when I got it the origional engine sat for 8-months with the crank soaking in water. Had an extra 250-r motor sitting around so I installed it. The hardest part was buying a pipe for $200.00, & cutting it to fit.

It runs sweet, just like a atc/trx. I still have the origional engine, but I have no intentions of putting it in, the nicasil bore is pitted real bad.

What is wrong with it, I have some other 250-r parts on mine (rear axle & hubs). It has a banshee rear shock. The swing arm pivot bushings are always bad. Make sure the frame isn't bent in the front, one hard hit in the left or right A-arms will bend the entire front end to one side. I had my 310 on my 88 tecate when I first built it. The tecate drag races good, but man if you have rode one they will beat you rite up. stock front shocks rot.

AS much as I hate to admit it, you wont have reliabilty probelms that kawi's engines seemed to be cursed with. Looks great.

Thanks 84. The stock tecate 4 was a sure runner, I guess they all are, I just love the look of the tecate 4. Once you widen them out some, & get rid of the front shocks they are pretty sweet.
