I have the book, so I know the answers but I'm just curious if anyone can answer any of these ?'s

What 3 wheeler was used to make the 1st 4 wheeler prototype?

What year was it?

Who was the man that designed it?

What looked extremly weird on the prototype?

What did Honda sue Yamaha for (pertaning to 3 wheelers) and won?

When did the 1st quad hit the showrooms?

Tough ?'s,I know. I didn't know a one till I read it.

If you have the "book" your disqualified. Lets leave it roll a bit and see what kind of answers we get.

I won't comment on any answers for a while. This might be fun ?

Like Monday night football, we'll have Sunday night quiz time. :D

Looking at the prototype you'd be shocked though. I never knew there was such a "thing" made. Can't say too much or I'll give it away. Looks pretty funny.

OK, I'm going to say the quad was modeled of the ALT 50???? And was in 1982.

The first quad hit the showroom in 1983 is my guess.

EDIT: Hey, what are the prizes anyway!? hahahaha

I thought honda made a prototype 4 wheeler in the late 60's but opted to go with the 3 wheeled design. :wondering

I wear a cap underneath so mine don't smell. Just chuck it in the wash after a long day's ride.

I can answer the first four if I can use my old 3Wheeler/Dirt Wheels mag. seen the story but forgot which mag it's in. I qualify because I'm using a different source, correct?

You got that one my freind! It's sort of inbetween a 3 and a 4 wheeler yet, the way it's set up (even though it has 4 wheels!). If you have a fairly large picture of that in the mag, by all means, post it!

I'm sure many never saw it. Imagine what that is worth!! Probably was crushed though :(

I have a pic but it's so small I don't think it would show up good.

Well here is a picture of the very 1st four wheeler ever. I'd call it a 1/2 breed because it still looks like a 3 wheeler to me.........sort of.\

Really be interesting to find out if it still exsists yet.

Suzuki alt 125 was the model. 1980 was the year of the prototype. 1983 was the release of the first quadrunner I believe a 125. I don't know the engineer's name but he worked for suzuki in japan and was trying to design something to compete with honda. What looked weird on it were the two front tires that were extremley close together and almost a no rear fenders at all. That's all I got.

Hey Guy's , wanta250r is correct on the proto type. My source is "3Wheeling August1981 issue, A history of the atc. page 47-49) 1968 Honda R&D started development on two projects; one three wheel and other four wheel. Four wheel was soon scratched as to proved not to be versatile enough. However, it was not the forerunner to the odyssey. It was based off of CT90 two wheeler. So if they soon scratch the four wheeler because of the versatlity, a proto type had to be made. SO now where do we go with this ????
