I have an old 1985 fourtrax 250 that has a bogging problem. It runs great at idle to 1/4 throttle. Anything after 1/4 throttle, it boggs down and if I hold it, it dies. If I run it like that for long, the plug will foul out and it wont start.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Clean your carb and check gas lines sounds like you are not getting any gas, when you hit the trottle.

Try running it without your gas cap, my vent clogged up and would cause that problem. you might also check the filter in the tank.

Make sure you are getting enough air to the carb. If it fouls the plug, (turns plug black & soaks it with gas). Then pull the air box cover off & try it again, with a new plug. Make sure the choke is opening up, & the air filter is not plugged. If the plug isn't wet then clean the carb, especially the main jet. If it idle's good the pilot jet is ok.

I just rebuilt the carb. New gaskets & jets. Same size that were in there and that did nothing. Also have new fuel lines and filter. I will check the vent in the tank cap. Thanks

What jet sizes are in it? Sounds like the main is too large or needle too high. The stock carb setup for the '86 ATC250R is here:

See how your carbs jets compare to that list, should be ballpark.
