i have just recently implanted a 16 hp twin cyclinder engine in a verysamll gambles riding mower, and i got the electrical harness in and everything hooked up and when i was gona see to start it the igintion switch seems to be bad(i did loose the key to it so i had to pound a flathead screwdriver into it), but with the screwdriver it did work and start bfore i put the harness in there, the only way to get it started is to jump it on the solinoid, and then it will start.so what could be the problem, im thinking all i need to do is pick up a new ignition switch.

i have picked * a new ignition switch and that didnt do it, i have looked over the entire wiring harness and have found no problems, what components have to be grounded and what dont?

Theres no way to answer that without knowing how its wired except to say that usually battery power goes to the switch then a line goes to the ignition coil and one to the start soleniod, other end of solenoid goes to ground.

If you can get pictures and a wiring diagram we can figger it out.
