ok, I am looking to buy a new moped and found this one on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7174701030&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1). It seems that most dealers sell the new ones for $2000 so I could get this one for about $400 less which is a great deal. I also emailed the seller and he said that if I buy more then one I could get them even cheaper which I am looking for three of them as my friends and I are planning a cross country trip. The thing is the seller only has a rating of 12 so I don't know if I can trust them. Is there anyway to check up on it more? How woulp I pay and be protected from being ripped off?

I don't know if I'd buy it. Most of the scams on Ebay use the ol' "user id kept private" thing. I would e-mail him and say you're in the area and want to stop and see it first. Nine times outta ten they will say it is not there or something like that. I would steer clear of it. Just my opinion.

^That sounds like a good idea. Say you're going to visit your aunt or something and they live like 10 miles away, and you're willing to stop by and see it.

Otherwise he has a great feedback record. Only buying, though.

Ya the feedback is suspect too. Only buying and the one selling he has is private. The scammers use that so if anyone knows it is a scam can't let the perspective buyer know. They paypal or send money and get nothin.

TW is there a Vento dealer up near you? If so I will just get some from them, then I wouldn't have to have it shiped either.

I saw the private aution thing too which makes it seem worse. I will give the guy a call tomorrow and try to get more info.

For 1400 $ US i'd build one hell of an electric bike !!!!!

Scooters can be fun if you get a bunch of guys with the same thing and ride around town.. but cross-country means highway use and man..... nuff said.

At least it's a 150cc wich should have bettr take off vs the 50cc 2 strokes.. top speed.. sure but how long does it take to get there !! lol.....

whoa, back up a minute. Did you say you're gonna ride that thing CROSS COUNTRY? THat would be one hell of a long trip on a scooter that tops out at 60-65 mph (prolly only does 40 max uphill!) You've got balls my friend!

Just my opnion, but the seller looks a little shady, and he's real far away from you (shipping would drive the cost way up). Doesn't look like a good enough deal to get involved with it.

Let's not turn this into a Harley/Jap bike fight thread. C'mon boys...

After all, we are talking about a Moped!!!!! I know some girls that are like mopeds, they are fun, but you do not want your friends to see you on them. :p

OK, first off I have a motorcycle and have had a few 50cc mopeds and a 50cc scooter so I know most of the arguments. And yes I said cross country. It is looking like it will be me and 2 other friends riding next summer, we have been planning it out and figure we will do about 300 miles a day, we will probably take 5 weeks to cover about 6000 miles. We are going to use 125cc or 150cc mopeds so that means the vento R4i or the Yamaha Vino. The problem witht he Yamaha (besides the $2500 price tag) is that they are not very easy to find. My dealer is only getting one '06 and that is in March, I have not been able to find a new '04. Hopefully I will get home from work soon enough to call the guy tomorrow but the more I look at the listing the less I feel comfortable with it.
