I have seen regular gas priced as high as 2.89 today :( It was 2.65 this morning. I will have to admit, I was pretty reluctant to believe it would hit 3.00 this summer but now I am second guessing myself. I know it has been high in Cali and AZ but this is rediculous. What are some of you paying in other parts of the country?

$1.12 In B.C! I am fortunate enough to be close to the border so I buy Yankee gas at .87 can. cents per liter. Conversion for the yanks is: liter is pretty much a quart. 4 quarts to the Yank gallon, 4.5 to the Can. gallon. Dollars are Can.dollar x .84 = yankee dollar. Ex: $1.20x .84= $1 US.....

I should maybe add that i'm calculating 5 pennies a recharge on 36v Sealed Lead Acid Batteries.. wich provide 30km range per recharge at absolute best...... But IF my math is correct... at 1 $ a liter and at current electricity cost per Kilowatt...

I get well over 2500 mpg !

I hear my fellow NBers close to the border in Maine are crossing over the line and fueling up at 85 centsUS/litre.

This afternoon in fredericton, n.b. on the Atlantic coast of Canada the price hit $1.13/litre. Where I live (and Bigredhead) everyone's rushing to fill up to beat the $1.13 price hike because for today at least we are holding at $1.07/litre in this market. If someone wants to figure out what that in *.S. dollars/gallons, be my guest.

$1.99??? How do they have it so cheap??

And its usually about $2.40-$2.60 here. Yesterday it was $2.45, and when we went into town today, it was $2.59!! I've never seen that big of a price jump in one day..

i gave 2.50 for regular today at shell. for once shell is the cheapest in town :w00t: ...man i remember when we used to complain when it was at 1.25  . i only see gas going up from here, simply because they know that no matter how much it costs we WILL buy it. when it hit 1.25 we complained but still bought it, it hit 1.50 we complained but still bought it, it hit 1.75 and we still bought it, it hit 2.00 and we STILL bought it. now look, its nearing 3.00 and we are STILL going to buy it. lets face it, its somthing we cant really function without and they know it, they can do what they want with the prices and we will only b!tch and then go fill our tanks

It's not worth it though. People might as well quit their jobs if they work more than 10 miles from their home and earn less than $9 an hour, because for what they spend on gas getting back and forth from work everyday, they are hardly making anything after the expense of gas! Might as well quit their job and find one close to their home and ride their bike to work.

That is a very good point to the 9 an hour and gas prices. All this is going to do is force people to spend less and like you said quit working. That is why I predict in the next 2 years the economy is going to take a major ****. Then they can raise it all they want because no one will be able to afford it anyways. It's simply amazing that the biggest economy in the world (US) can not do anything about prices. The price of goods is riseing to fast for wages which is why a recession is coming.

The main problem is the lack of refineries here in the US, and of course China is using alot more gas.

There is a way to make you're hybrid car get 250 mpg, a company is going to start up next year that will make your car do it for about $12000.

Until then, I might have to stop driving my 350x and use my Big Red!

What always scared me, is that when we do the switch to hydrogen, how are we going to drive our trikes??? There will be very litle gas stations left since gas will be obsolete. We will probable have to order it online for like $50 a gallon! :(

I've never thought of that. I'm sure that there will be plenty of gas stations around for awhile though. When we switch to hydrogen cars, not many people are going to buy them right away. Some people are going to get them, and others are going to stick to gas cars. I highly doubt that we will ever TOTALLY switch to hydrogen. There will always be a few people driving around their gas cars.

Or us trikers could buy a 500 gallon tank, and stock up on gas so we will never run out! And our trikes will die or need an engine rebuild before our gas supply runs out! And then when we do run out, we will just go to a fellow trikers house to fill up our trikes.

ps: I'm Buzzz on that forum.. this is the place to go if you want to get into electric transportation..... i got alot of help with my battery bike from these guys...

There are alot of factors involved.. as in batteries.. brakes.. cost of electricity etc..... but all in all.. electric motors will power the future of transportation.

With some mods... could we not run our trikes on hydrogen ? Slamming into a tree carying a canister of hydrogen might be a problem tho.

Yup... it wouldn't require much to make any engine run on hydrogen, but then you'de be decreasing the collectable value of the trike.

$2.79 / US Gallon is wha I paid last night to fill up our van.

I bike (pedal bike) to and from work in the summer. I leave a car at work for use around town. It's a 31 mile round trip commute. Takes me about 55 minutes each way. Been doing it for 3 months now and figure I have at least 1 more month to go before the daylight squeezes me off the roads in the morning.

At 2.79 / gallon with my 15 mpg truck that's about $460.00 worth of fuel or 165 gallons that I saved this summer. Not to mention I'm in pretty good shape for a 40 year old because of it.

I am 100% impressed. That is just cool at heck you ride a bike that far to and from work. Im sure your in dang good shape after a summer of that. You can buy a lot of trike parts or have a nice riding trip for free with the savings. I guess my lazy butt will keep driving my service truck about 80% of the time and let the company pay my way.

Expect hydrogen to be a conversion thing..... basically:

You remove the engine.. tranny... gas tank .. everything that was gas powered. You install a " Fuel Cell " .. basically a battery that runs on liquid hydrogen to produce electricity to power an electric motor

Don't be fooled.. electric cars can be FAST !!!!

$2.58 for dezul today.......................according to scientist on a Discovery Channel show, the process of producing liquid hydrogen makes the same air pollution per mile as if you were to just burn it in the cars engine. sort of a problem i would guess

the same show said at current rate of growth we will run out of oil in 2017.

the scariest thing about the whole thing was when they showed the looooooonnnnnggg list of things that are made from petroleum based products. no oil, no products, not good.
