Did you check shipping on the headlight? They want $9 for parcel post and I'm in the same state.

yeah that is a good price for the light. as for the carb ... not a bad price but there will always be a deal out there to be had. i got a 38mm mikuini from a cr250 for my 300r project complete with throttle cable and twist throttle for 9.99 and only 6 bucks to ship.

It is a 350x carb.

how do you see that it is a 350X carb? 350X carbs dont have accelerator pumps and that one clearly does

yes i have one

this pictures of a parts carb i have that is off of a 350X but it should show you that the one in the auction is not a 350X carb

My bad, good call X. I never realized how close the 350x, 400ex, 300ex and 250x carbs looked alike. I've got a 350x and a 400ex carb. The one in the auction looks like a 400ex. The 300ex and 250x carbs don't have that hose coming out by the throttle cable like the 400ex does. Now it's clear. ;)

EDIT:
Crap, nothing is clear except that it's not a 350x carb. It's not a 400ex carb either, the plastic cover is different.

By the way 250sxwheeliepop, the choke linkage is missing and what's left is busted up on what ever that thing is.

So if it's not a 350x,400ex,300ex or 250x carb, what is it?

(sigh) If we could atleast figure out what the hell the carb fits I would be happy.

LOL, sorry guys, I was looking at it wrong. That is a 400ex carb for sure. I'm holding mine here and looking at the pic and every single little cast, cover and screw matches up. Also that plastic piece for the choke butterfly IS broken and all the rest of the choke parts look like they are MIA.

Tri-ZNate
08-18-2005, 02:23 PM
ok so its a 400ex then. I'll look for choke parts when the colder weather starts in. The piece that is broken is that the choke lever? or like a primer on a lawnmower.

It's a lever that a link arm goes to, that links to your choke lever. You're gonna want to tell them to keep it man, you'll never be able to dial that thing in on a 250sx. It's way too much carb. A 350x carb is too much too but not as bad. A 300ex carb would be the way to go.

I think i will try to use this carb and if not ill just sell it.

we'll all agree that the sx is limited by gearing to say 50-55mph right? why do all this just to get to that speed faster and use more fuel? you're not building a race bike. save your money. you are setting yourself up for a nightmare of tuning.

IMO if you do some modds to your bike like pipping, less restrictive air flow, yadda yadda yadda you should probably put a bigger carb on too. like I said if it too much of a hassel i'll get rid of it. I use this bike to do drag racing with too. I may not win but I like to give people a challenge.

Just trying to be a freind here, that's why I said I'd make them keep it. The 400ex carb is giving some 350x guys trouble, that excellerator pump just throws too much fuel. You are right that a bigger carb can help with the mods you've listed but there is a limit. Good luck.

I understand but the guy stated ask all questions before hand, and it is sold as is anyway. Plus there is no returns on anything but musical instraments and parts labeled as so. I'll just take the carb and sell it. Will the 300ex bolt right on?

you can refuse it and dispute it with ebay as a mislabeled item
