Both are 200cc machines with one being 4 stroke and the other 2 stroke. The X probably saves some weight being a 3 wheeler. I owned an 85 200X in high school but I have never ridden a blaster. Which is the fastest machine?

my friends stock 85 honda 200s smokes stock blasters, so i imagine that a 200x would

twisted twisted The 200x will kill a blaster, I wouldn't be surprised if my neighbors 110 beat it. twisted twisted

people dont give blasters enough credit i think depending on the rider a blaster should win. i saw a blaster modded with a yz125 motor and i would guarintee no stock 200x would keep up with that stock 125 blaster

A stock blaster will outrun a stock 200x. I have had nearly 20 200x's, and without some modifications it is not happening. The 86 and 87 200x's are a much better race, and a skilled rider can overcome the slight horsepower advantage of the blaster. The 83-85 200x's are battered by the blasters. The 86 and 87 is a close race with a good rider piloting the 200x, but usually the blaster will still outdo it.

Ok, I know this from experience. on take off a blaster would automatically jump ahead, and once they start the midrange of the power bnd, the blaster will smoke the 200x, and in top end, the blaster wipews it's ass with the 200x....
If you don't believe me bring you 200x and race my blaster...

200cc 4 stroke vs 200cc 2 stroke, can't give honda that much credit.

I really like my 85 200x. but i think that stock, a blaster will beat a 85 or older 200x. i really like hondas but in this case the blaster is faster.

Blaster's are pretty pussy, with me not knowing how to ride, I got beat to 3rd gear by an 85cc suzuki bike, then after that I was long gone. If I had known how to ride I think the Blaster should have beaten that bike all the way.

2 stroke to 4 stroke...cmon.

Blaster will slap up an 83-85.

An 86/87 200X however....far better chance.

You X fans are nuts, my Blaster smokes my 250SX. And on a straight line my SX beats 200X's. The Blaster is far supperior in acceleration and handling. Not nocking the X as I've had 2 and would like one again. If anyone would like to bring their X to my 1.5acre track they are more than welcome to. Oh suppercharged and big bores need not respond, LOL!!!

what is the top speed of both machines

-D I think a 83-85 stock 200x can be around 65mph.

83-85 200X....More like 53-56mph. 86/87 would do 60-65 without a problem.

Blaster is 53-55mph.

a blaster with a good pipe easily smokes a 200x. i have an 87 200x with a bigger carb and aftermarket exhaust and my sister has a 96 blaster that i ported and added an LRD adjustable pipe. the blaster easily pulls at least 12- 14 bike lengths ahead of the 200x

Yes but the bottom line we are talking about a 2 stroke against a 4 stroke?? If its a 83-85 w/ 5 speed tranny......of course it would lose. Its like saying which one is faster a 83-85 200X or 86-87 200X?

i am surprised that the 83-85 200x are only capable of 55mph.
does this mean that the dx will be able to keep up with x on top end.
i have riden a X and DX i think that the X is faster, or this just might be because i have not riden my dx for a good few months. one thing i do know is that th X does not even come close to the DX in the torque stats.
then again they were designed for different purposes
(still looking for some front forks)

OK lets call them "relatively similar" as far as top end goes. But air cooled and no frills 200cc 2 stroke Blaster motors just plain crank! The acceleration out of corners alone would smoke a small displacement four stroke. Again I love to ride each machine but, have you ever tried a Blaster? No they are not a 250R, 350X, or Banshee but they do crank through all 6 gears very quickly.

i have raced my friend on his blaster and i totaly smoked him, the only time he got me was out at glamis racing up olds and that was only one time.
thats my 2 cents

we'll never know for sure because a blaster doesn't run long enough to find out

This is in reply to (good s**t)'s post about the 225DX Vs. the 200xI have an 85' 200x and I raced it side by side my dad's 85' 225DX.Off the line the DX is slower but on top end the DX starts to gain distance on the X. I still prefer the manual clutch on the x compared to the no clutch on the DX though. :Beerchug
