I have just about talked myself into buying a golfcart, and I know little about them so I am looking for advice. From what Ive read through other posts I think that I have got it narrowed down to two quads, the 400ex and the z400/kxf400. The problem is that I have never ridden either one of them so I only know what I have read. I know, I know I need to get my arse on the seat and see what I like ,but its not like a parking lot is comperable to the places that I would be riding them. I am 6'3" and 225lbs. I like riding just about every where but I would have to say that I like riding mx tracks the most followed by fast paced woods riding. So what do you guys think would be the ride for me if either of them? Thanks in advance for all of you responses.---Joe 8) ps I dont have any objections to two stroke quads ,its just hard to finance the one that I want.....trx250r

As wuch as I hate to say it, I would go with the LTZ400. Even though Ive had a woody for the 400ex ever since it came out, the Z400 is an improved 400ex. But I know if I bought one tomarro, I would read in dirt wheels that Honda put put their new big bore thumper in to production and I would have to trade it in!

Without a doubt the Z400/KFX. Liquid Cooled....lets keep up with technology shall we? :D

My Buddies lookin @ the Z400 as well......it rides too well, I really like it. He has since gone looking for Raptors. He's a first timer, althoug he claims to have 10 years of riding under his belt. I think i will ask Yamaha to detune a version of the raptor for him. Maybe add a roll cage.

i would agree that the z400/kfx400 would be a better choice. although at 6'3" 225 you may want to consider the raptor's power. and of course there are others, but if it's only between 400ex and the z400, i'd think you'd be happier with the z400. good luck.

I sure like the Z400 better, but for a guy your size, the stock suspension on the 400EX will suit you a lot better, and youll probably find the Z400 suspension too light. Not a factor if youre gonna change suspension anyways, but if money is tight and your gonna run it as it comes out of the box, its something to think about.

Thanks for all of your replies, they have been quite helpful and if I do decide to buy new it will probably be the 400ex. The only perfomance mods I would ever do to a bike would be solely to raise the hps. Today I talked to a buddy of mine and he is selling a totally rebuilt lt250 for $2500, ground up resto. I might snatch this up to save myself $2G...I think I would rather have the two stroke anyway just for the fact that they are easy to work on. Which ever I purchase I'm sure I'll be back to "quad central" for additional advice. thanks guys---Joe 8)

Get a banshee---rule the roost!!!!! I like the 400's and rap-turd but they just don't give ya the rush of hitting the powerband like a shee. If I were you I would try and ride all the machines that you like in the dirt trailprotrailpro making a purchase, think you'll thank yourself later on--good luck ;)

Thanks again for all the replies guys but today I picked up the lt250r that I had referred to earlier. Man this thing is sweet. The only thing that I need is a chain tensioner. Now where to find suzuki parts? Ill post pics tomorrow. Later---Joe 8)
