The '88s are my personal favorite. I love the red and white color scheme.

I guess you missed this one last year. It apparently sold for $12,000.  I remember it because a lot of people were calling the seller crazy. However, he did buy everything NOS for the restoration. There were no aftermarket parts at all. Everything was factory Honda. This guy did the same type of resto to a quad that I used to do to Mopars.

Those '88's are nice. I think those are the nicest of the 250r's. But it isn't worth $12,000 in my book. Maybe $5,000. You don't see all original atc 250r's going for $12,000. That guy is crazy

Hey Pete, I remember that 250R, too. The one I posted about was a restoration, so they were two different quads. You can tell by the frame paint near the footpegs and the scratches on the swingarm and axle. This one had a BIN of $12,500. The only thing it was missing was a chain. Here are some more pics of it. The close-up of the ignition switch and handlebars is actually of this quad (see below).

Hey 69HemiGTX
yep your right they are deffo different bikes that one went for $12,000 as well but thinking about it ...it could of been the year before last or even i bit longer can't remember when i just remember the price 12k!!!!
Yes it's a lot of cash but it is a peace of atv history.....and if i could find one here for £6000 (i live in the UK) which is about $12,000 i would buy it.....not a second thought......all we got is nailed racers like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-trx-250r-race-quad_W0QQitemZ4582031217QQcategoryZ18449QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem
no original bikes left :( :( :( :( :(

It seems like the UK has nothing for old quads and trikes. How come?

the honda way.....we got lots of atc70,110,125,and bigreds but when it came to the sport bikes .....we only got the 82R because they could'nt sell enough in the states...the same for the 200x we only got the 83 model (the worst model, crap swingarm) we never got the 86/87x or the 350x the only ones in the UK are private imports and that's a hand full.....we did get in very small number 85/86R'a and 83/84R's but most were used for racing and are total nails or been scraped...
as for the trx250r we only got the 86 and the 88 but there were a lot of imports of other models but all used for racing........only seen one nice trx250r in the last few years and that went for $8000 by the time i had rung the advert the guy had sold it......always the way:(

ah man that really sucks. I look at the advertisments where I live and I find about 20 trx250s, 5 atc 250r, lots of quadracers/quadzillas. Ive even found 3 86-87 tecate 3's in good condition for $2500! I think it's time you moved over to the states
