This dragster is powered by twin turbo, 24 valve, P7100 mechanical fuel pump, 5.9 liter Cummins Diesel engine. Same basic engine as a Dodge Ram truck. This is a pure stock short block with 35,000 street miles! We are just out there trying to see how fast and quick we can go.

The engine has two stage Holset turbos providing the boost. It uses a modified HX-35 / 40 hybrid and a HX-55 / 60 hybrid on it, and develops 80 PSI of boost. We are also running a little Nitrous Oxide for "smoke control". The pump and injectors we are using now are built by John Russin of Buddha Power.

the fuel that we are running is Biodiesel, supplied from BlueSun of Colorado. This fuel is made from virgin agricultural based products, not from petroleum. We have found that this fuel has a higher cetane rating, and performs very well. In addition, it is a alternative fuel, a renewable resource.

You guys see that, PURE STOCK SHORTBLOCK! Now thats what I call a solid design.

And people wonder why I always say that the Cummins is one of the best diesels in the world. I can't wait to get mine. :D

80 lbs of boost, my god they must have 1" head bolts in there to keep the head from poping off. It's pretty amazing what can be done when you start forcing air into an engine. As long as you get the fuel there to. Imagine what could be done with an old Nt cummins like we run in our old concrete mixers, they are 855 cu in, with 3 seperate heads, with 4-valves per cylinder. I have messed with the pump pressure on our engines, & just a little tweek makes a pretty big difference. The only problem is I can't force anymore air. I know the boss won't let me add another turbo, too bad.:w00t:

80lbs of boost is alot, but thats still not the most I've heard of. I'll have to do some research at the TDR but I'm almost positive theres a couple guys running the mid to upper 90's with sled pulling trucks.

Thats amazing. I've kinda been looking for a Cummins 5.9 powered Dodge pickup for my next ride, but with diesel prices so freakin high i dunno. Checked out a 12V 2500 about a month ago but I decided against it.

Its so fast because its so light. Put that motor in a 3500 and I bet it wont do much under 11 seconds.

Perhaps...lets see some Powerstroke and Duramax dragsters and we'll find out :D

The cummins is a inline engine. I think that makes it a better, also easier to work on engine. All inline 6 engines seem to have crazy torque also. If the cummins was an electric engine, like the duramax, & power stroke, it would be harder & more expensive to mod. The pump pressure can be turned up real easy on the old pt style cummins fuel pump. If cat were to build a small inline 6, that would be a bad mammer also. I went to a cat engine class in detroit, & saw a V-12 diesel generator engine that was torn down. That was a sight to see.

16.23 seconds for a Powerstroke (7.3L) with nothing but a Banks PowerPack. Stock automatic tranny, full toolbox, 5th wheel, ect...

David Lott ran an amazing 13.22 with his Super Duty F-250 for the number-one position on the diesel ladder.

Zane Koch of Wide Open Performance in Salt Lake City
clockedthe fastest time: 12.21 @ 114 in his 1997 Ford 7.3
Powerstroke. The truck runs on diesel only and has
compound Bell turbos, custom programming and reworked
injector. John Kennedy smoked in his 2002 Chevy at 12.60
@ 111.28 mph and Brandon Meyers clocked 12.62 @
112.37 in his 2002 Chevy. (4,400' above sea level as well)

That was just 15 minutes of searching. Diesel drag racing is still a new sport...there is not much information out there yet...

And on this very forum there is an old tech 12valve cummins running a less then 11.5
