i got 2 of the sleds today.. one is the 1976 motoski nuvik 340, and the other is a bombardiar sled with rotax 400 in it. I have a problem though.. on both of the sleds the recoil wont pull out. like the pistons are seized, but theyre not. any ideas on how to get them unstuck without taking the engine apart.. please let me know. thanks in advance.. oh and ill get pics tomarrow..

See if you can turn the primary clutch, the one on the motor, forward or backwards. If not pull the heads and take a look, might be rusted in the cylinders or the crank or rod bearings are rusted.

no i cant turn them by hand. I know theyre not seized though.. I was wondering if its the cold and like if i could pour hot water over the engine and try to break them free.

Its cold outside? bring them inside and let em thaw....or pull the cowling off and re-wind them and lube all the parts up, how do you know there not siezed?

I know theyre not seized because before the snowstorm we had both of them turned over, aand they havent been touched since then. I cant fit the sleds in my house otherwise theyd be in here by now lol. What do you mean by cowling and rewind them?? Im confised here..

Pull the spark plugs out and hose down the inside of the motor with WD-40 or something like that. There's no warm place, not even someone else's garage that they can sit in overnight?

Well...i have seen before, if there was some water or Really old gas in the bottem of the crank case it will actually freeze the crank and rods solid in there and wont come unstuck till ya thaw here out..lol

my friend has a barn that they all store the bikes and quads and boats in and whatnot. I pndered the thought about bringing them there but theyre a pain to load/unload and Theres not that much room in there right now anyway.. maybe fit another dirtbike thats all.. Is there a way I can thaw it out somewhat quickly without a garage? Also the one with the 400 in it needs like a diaphram for the carb that pumps the gas from the tank.. Where can I get replacement parts for it. I dont know what kind of carb it is nor what kind of sled it came out of. Anyone know??
Thanks
Patrick

got the bombardiar broken free today, but the recoil slips so I think I might need new dogbones.. I found out that the carb on the bombarsiar is a tillotson, so Ill be looking for parts for that maybe ill get this running..
Still havent gotten the motoski free yet but saturday were putting a commercial heater infront of it so hopefully all goes as planned and it gets thawed out go get running..
