I had a pretty good day today, got up early and did the Hangover Scramble, (it's a hair scramble/GP), dad and I both finished well in 200 AM, he got 3rd I got 5th. Got a lot more laps in than last year, even with the unexpected swim in the mud hole and getting stuck up to the skid plate. Then when I got home I got a call on my XR parts bike and now there's a check for $100 in the mail for me. Anyway, here's some pics of the race, me mid race and my bike after the race. (not my pics, another Thumper Talk member's) http://users.adelphia.net/~justryin/hangover_scrambles.htm
Here's one of me stuck

You gotta love them Hondas. Just wish the rain would ease up a bit so I can go play in the mud holes we have here. It's been raining off and on for about 5 days now. Even parts of the town (Reno,NV) are flooding..

Chris

Ice picks in the Tires? Cool pics for sure. Congrats on your finish. Do any ATVs run that race?

glad to hear you all had a good new years. our new years eve was pretty good also. a tradition of my wife and myself is to spend newyears eve which is also our wedding aniversary at one of the mississippi coast casinos. a few have gotten back up and running now due to the storm. we both made out pretty well so watch out ebay. but i have to say you would have to see the destruction there to believe it. new orleans was flooded and lots of people lost their homes. but what we saw there was beyond belief just mile after mile wiped off the map like nothing was there before. i pray a hope for the best for those people there. it makes me appreciate my family and what we have, knowing something like that could take it all away in a matter of a few hours. well sorry for rambling on. hope everyone has a great new year.

Yup, my dad and I both studded our tires. ATV's run the last hour, after the 3 hours of bike racing. We were out second race, and each time I came around they'd changed the course to make it passable. The week's worth of rain had turned some areas into tank deep ponds, they routed us around that after the first lap.

I think that would be a perfect place to have a Utility Trike race. You didn't look too muddy in that pic.. You must have been in front of the other riders for a good while?

I was mixed in with everyone, not exactly leading since my bike didn't want to fire at the start, and I held back. In this race it's much easier to just hang back and pass people on the ground or stuck. That was about 1/3rd through my second lap of 3, and I hadn't spent any time on the ground or in the water as was the case with my 3rd lap, that I rode the last half of pretty much blind. I fell in that long mud hole in about the deepest part, and trust me, I was COATED in mud about the consistancy of melted ice cream. I was mostly blind because I fell face first, and had no way to clean my glasses, I'd already taken my goggles off becasue they were coated from some roost i'd caught earlier. If I was going to run the ATV section, I'd want the biggest tired 4x4 or trike I could get, those mud holes only got worse, and the re routes were too narrow for atv's.
