View Full Version : Looks like the forum has gotten so popular I need to upgrade the hosting plan

Billy Golightly

This place has really grown by leaps and bounds in just a short year, or even less. To put things into perspective, our hosting plan for the forum is 4500mb disk space, and 100GB bandwidth. According to our statistics, on January of 05 we had a total of 36GB of bandwidth used for the month. January of 06, and we're at 85GB

Now before some of you get all going saying its innacurate because of the fact that theres more people uploading and downloading attachments, ect. I will say that is correct. HOWEVER, January has been the best month traffic wise yet to date.

So far this month we've had a total of 6,673,335 hits (Everytime an object is requested or loaded. Attachments, smilies, images on the skins, pages, ect. Pretty much any kind of content). We had an average of 9,268 hits per hour. The maximum recorded was 24,953 in an hour. The average divides into 154 hits per minute and 2.5 hits every second. That means, every second that passes the forum has served 2.5 pieces of content to a person

There were 35,985 Individual visits. This generaly means individual people but due to the fact that IP addresses change that might belong to the same person, ect this is probably a little high. There was an average of 1,199 vists per day. That divides into 49 individual visits per hour.

Page wise, there were 95,511 loaded this month. Pages is actual forum threads, private messages, user CP, registration pages, ect. Any link you click on and it takes you somewheres on the forum is considered a page. There were an average of 3,183 pages loaded to peoples computers per day. That divides into 132 pages loaded per hour, which divides into 2.2 pages loaded for someone every minute.

The most activity occured during the 9:00PM hour in the evening. The least was at the 4:00AM hour.

There were visitors during the month of January coming from the following countries. Please keep in mind that this is only an estimate on the bandwidth and hits by the statistics software and may not totally correspond with other #s.

And Last but not least, Yahoo and Google respectively provided us with the most search engine Traffic. Yahoo forwarded 5,806 hits to us. Google forwarded 5,723.

To sum it all up, we're getting some CRAZY exposure and use out of this forum which is definetly a good thing :D

Nope, its still on a shared account amazingly. We have their biggest plan "Super". I just sent them an email today to see if we can get a little bit more bandwidth, because we've been getting about 5GB or so a day at the end of this month from what I've seen. We have tonight and all of tomorrow to go before the counter is reset. Hopefully we dont hit the 100GB mark before the months out heh.

I really dont know too much about all this stuff but if your upgrading does that mean more features or smilies things of that nature.

No...It just mean that for an extra $20 a month the forums will work instead of everyone getting a blank page that says "BANDWIDTH EXCEEDED" until the end of the month.

I'd like to give a big shout out to all my Azerbaidjan brothas out there, wherever the heck that is. lol

Seriously, thats awesome Billy. ,,,and they keep saying threewheelers are dead. I still remember when thier was 1 message brd with 6 or 7 guys on it and you'd be lucky to see a new post every 3 or 4 days. Try finding used trike parts back then, lol Now you just post a message and usually within a few hrs someone will reply with what you need.
I guess we have Mr. Gates to thank for all this; I think he's the one that came up with the internet.
Anyways,,,As long as 3ww is here,I'll be here.:w00t:

Hey BRH, you can to a certain extent: http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?p=1

The only thing is before vBulletin we had phpBB. Before phpBB we had EZboard. Before EZBoard we had boards2go. Before boards2go we had InsideTheWeb. So...the early days are long long gone sadly :(

Thats awesome Billy! I've been here for 4 years, and can really see how things have changed.

I just want to thank you, Howdy, all the moderators, and all the previous admin's who have put this site together, and kept it running without a hitch! This is by far, the best site on the web IMO, and will always be my favorite!

where can i donate 10 bucks to?
Paypal Donations:
NON-Credit Card Funded Paypal: donations@3wheelerworld.com
For Credit card funded Paypal use: 4howdy@bright.net ( this paypal account will be changing in the near future ). Be sure to put 3WW Donation for the topic. This makes it easy for me to notice and then forward it to the 3WW account.

You can also send donations to Billy or myself. We will then deposit it into the 3WW account. ;)

Hey Billy, I had a thought today. We've had limited exposure thru a couple magazines over the last year that may have contributede to growth. What's going to happen when they air Trikefest on television? Might start putting a plan together for that one!

Wow, 533 from Iran? I don't know what to think about that.

As for Gore inventing the internet, well, that was a clumsy statement he made that got stretched even further by his opponents. A more accurate statement would have been, "I never stood in the way of the invention of the internet." He was a politician that was interested in the internet and did what he could to promote it, but he had no hand in inventing it, other than signing funding legistlation, the same as many other politicians. The link below gives a fairly good representation of the events.
