I ahve to complete 13 hours of community service in three weeks on no diploma and after that i have to complete 15 more hours of communtiy service or i do not get my daploma. School blows, with such a small town and 103 people in the biggest graduating sinch 1981, there is so little to do. Alot of people are just paying people off to sign there sheets, well i dont have money for that.

My boy had to do some community service ( long story ). He did his by picking up trash in the park and along the streets. Not a fun job, but it worked.

There were only 680 in mine .... and that was the smallest since the district was formed in 1946. Now they are at like 1100 or so. Its interesting this whole "community service" aspect that alot of districts are including now as a part of graduation .... I think its a great Idea - however - it should be more civic oriented so its worth your while and educational. Picking up litter from the side of the highway is neither.

lol

I have had to do some community service me self. It was about 10 years ago when I got in trouble.:naughty: I don't think it's a bad idea to do some communtiy service. I do agree that it should be more civic oriented, but it shows that some times it takes little effort to help the communtiy out. I can kinda understand why they do it, but if I was still in school I would be bitching too. Bet you can't wait till your out of high school. I didn't not like school very much.

I had to do 40 hours as well, 850 kids in my school. I ended up with 350 lol, good ole camp counsellor. My public school in town has 135 lol last time I checked, when I was president of that school. I knew every kids name!

In our town, the kids have what is called Project Graduation. They have to do a project that helps out the city. So I guess you could call it comunity service. Its not limited to trash pickup. Some go and paint over the graffiti that the over kids do. Some do book drives. My son had massive amount of comunity service after his last speeding ticket ( he was doing 120mph on the freeway). I think he finially learned his lesson. He's been good for the last two years. my trike on the street.

Well being 33 years old, all i can say is that if that's the worst thing that ever happens in your life then you ought to consider yourself very lucky...

Lol I already have my hours in for graduation and I'm only a junior. There is a very simple fix, join a fire company comprised mostly of family and friends. Works awesome for service hours. Lemme put it this way. Last night was Maintainance night, so since we had nothing to do we just BSed for about 3 hours

I didnt have to worry about communtiy service for graduation although 10 hrs were required for graduation.I was in the Fire dept.(at the time). 13 hrs aint squat. If your not into picking up trash, check into the fire dept, They will probably have you wash the trucks and do some stuff around the firehouse. If they're cool guys they might let you get away with not doing too much.Good way to meet some new people and maybe learn a few things.
Other option is going to a town/village or whatever office and file papers and do office type stuff. I'd rather be waxing firetrucks and BS'ing with the guys. Just do it and put it in the past :) Good Luck ,,,You do want to graduate right??

I could drink a fifth of vodka everyday before class...and still knock my senior year out without a care in the world...that's taking calc and physics...not 4 PEs....

on a side note, we had to complete 45 hours of community service my senior year. 15 in school, 15 in community, 15 in church....

I signed all of my paperwork myself, and wrote my extra phone line in at the bottom for the community and church hours. Rev... Delaune never received a call. Though I did answer the phone like that for months.

I had to do 6 hours of community service for a government class my senior year. We went to the street department in our town. You know how motivated those guys are to work. When we'd get there, they'd be on break the whole time, and they told us to have a seat and enjoy. Best community service ever!

10 bucks an hour isnt bad, especially if you are a kid. now if you are working in the real world, yeah, screw that. your better off working extra hours, and you'll make a profit in the end lol.

I had to do 50 hours for a DUI. I worked at habitat for humanity which is a nonprofit org that builds houses for low income people. 50 hours was a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro load but it wasnt as bad as it could have been. Free lunch and I dont mind doing carpentry work.
