If any of you older guys remember---Back in the early 80's -when the "K" cars were popular-(COUGH)-----There were hemi badges on the 2.6 L versions. Now we have another Japcrap design passed off as a Hemi?---whats next? I like the car very much , but one thing it isnt--Is a HEMI.

Have you even seen the inside of the new Hemi? I'm betting not. It IS a Hemi. The only real difference is in the quench area of the combustion chambers. The sides are brought in a little to help get more quench, which helps emissions. Even the rocker system uses the same layout as the 426, albeit with a much better design. Believe me, I was skeptical about the Hemi moniker being used on this engine until I researched it. The old 2.2 "Hemi" was a play on words because it was more of a pent-roof design, like all other DOHC engines.

Ok- true---
But your screen name says it all----If you saw a Chrysler concord with GTX tags and hemi badges-----wouldnt you be a bit sick?

Just like the super-ghetto GTX Rams from a few years ago? Yes, those were blasphemous, but the original hot rod Hemi (1955 300, the first real muscle car) was a Chrysler design. The 426 was pure in-house ChryCo, but it was only used in the Dodge and Plymouth lines because they were a lot lighter, and Chrysler was (and still is) the luxury line. Chrysler didn't make B or E-bodies during the Street Hemi's reign, only C-body road boats. But, since Lincoln now uses a version of the Mustang Cobra engine and Cadillac uses a version of the Corvette engine, Chrysler had to offer a performance model to compete for sales and not be labeled as too conservative. Oh well, modern times.

Welcome to the modern muscle car wars. :beer

I still can't decide if I like it better than the 2009 Camero or not...

I like the 05 Stang, the 07 Challenger, and the 09 Camaro. I can't wait till they actually hit the dealerships. I looked at an 05 Mustang a few months ago. It was used and only had like 2k miles. I couldn't get them any lower than about 22k. I just couldn't pay that for a V6. If it would have been the V8, yeah. I am not a Ford guy at all, but I love the Mustang. I am definetly going to have to check out the Challenger and Camaro when they show up.

GM just cant get it right the gt and the challenger look better. although I bet the Camaro will be the fastest. the gen5 engine is awsome. It amazes me that ford builds a $170000 rear engine 4 cam super charged 5.4(the GT) that cant keep up with GM's old single cam push rod engine in the new zo6 which also happens to beat the viper. o yeah it beat them on a road course and a drag strip.-neat

thats because Gm is the best.. i love the new camaros.. those bad boys look sick. and the whole idea of the retro car.. just not so appealing to me if i want the old car, i want the OLD car, like the old Z28's:twisted: and novas and stingrays.. whew and but yeah the new challeneger is nice and all, but i dont care for mopar.. and the new 4 door charger is just a disgrace..

The Camaro is only a concept right now. The production model will resemble the concept, but there will be some differences. I agree though, I don't think GM did as well on the 09 Camaro as Ford or Dodge did, but I will hold off with my formal opinion until I see a production model in person.
