I just picked up a 93 polaris xlt special , its got a 580 tripple in it, I am just wondering if these are good reliable sleds, and what usually go wrong with them, and any tricks to get a little bit more punch on the pow end.

They are pretty good sleds overall. Quick. Polaris are known to have issuses with bearings/crank on their early triples. Actaully I belive that the 580s were more reliable than the 600s but I'm not sure. Unless it has very high miles I wouldn't worry too much about it, I would reccomend using a good quality oil. Have fun with it. Tripple pipes would let you rev it up eaiser and get more power out of it but will probably be harder on your already somwhat weak bottom end. You could trash the airbox, run tripple hi-flow filters, rejet and possibly pick up a few hp...

on my xlt is there any other way of adjusting the idle other than individually on the 3 carbs?
