i know there are several on this site.

I have mine geared 14/38 and i think i need to step up to a 15 tooth front sprocket.

what are you using?

also what was your solution to the kicker?

Using a blaster kicker to clear the fenders. I'm waiting on my the carb then mine will be running. Can't wait.

As far as gearing I'm starting at 13/40 and then I'll play with it from there. I have a handfull of counter sprockets to playwith.

Mine was at 15/42 which was great for top speed but when you start running a real agressive paddle you need to gear down. I'm at 12/42 now and can turn damn near any paddle you can think of including 25x13.5x9 Dick Cepeks with 16 paddles per tire.

i guess you are trying to max out in 300'? my 500 just seems to rev out too fast with the 14/38. what year is your 15 tooth front? if you are not using it i would be interested

What year is the sprocket you mean basket? It came off of my 85. I'm gonna probably hang onto it because sometime in the future I want to try some 1/8th mile asphalt drags and I'm sure I'll be needing it (and probably even taller) gearing then. If you think your topping out to quick go for the 15 and maybe a smaller rear sprocket. What are you running for tires?

20" pro wedges. the cr500 sprocket is different for differnt years. mine is a 87 and only 87-88 cr500r and cr350r will fit.

i knew about your tranny and i have no idea how it is geared different.

i need to rebuild my engine so that may be a large part of my problem. i have new seals, bearings, piston, rings, pin, and gaskets on the way. i may even have a new carb coming!!!

i worked out the kicker so i will have to post some pics of that!!! it took no frame mods, it gets a full kick, and you leave it attached!!
