I had this 250sx brought to me yesterday. The kid was riding it around pretty hard in the snow and all of a sudden problems occured:

It wouldn't shift, No lights came on on the dash ( neutral & reverse ), It was a bear to push the 3 wheeler & The shifter when pushed down stayed down.

What was wrong with it???

Note: One person from this site is not allowed to answer ( He already knows, I sold him the 3 wheeler ). ;) and he picked it back up last night.

I knew right away where to start looking and It has since been fixed.

I had a Bayou 185 that did that when I was like 14. On the end of the shifting rod there was two plates, with ball bearing inbetween them and a spring on the end. It had come apart. As for the lights, it was in gear when it happened so the indicater lights wouldnt come on. Am I right ?????????

Well from the description you gave I would say something was wrong with the shift shaft/its components?

I don't know much about the inside of the transmission...But if the lever was stuck in the down possition...Could something inside be jamming it....Or a broken returning spring? I agree with Freaksfix, If its in gear...None of the lights will come on, and won't start.

The Flux Capacitor went out, thus causing any kind of travel impossible?

OooOoooOOOooooooo...some good answers here...

In my own expert opinion, I would have to say that the chain and sprockets are wore beyond the limit! replace these components and you shall be GOLDEN!

Welp, after looking at it for about 15 minutes Friday I figured out it was the carb needed rejetting. 15 minutes of work and it was going again...

Yep, It was a easy fix. My 5 year old pulled the bad shifter shaft and put the good one in. I had the job of replacing the pin. ( I got the hard job ) lol

My 5 year old has been laerning how to work on machines for a while now. He can really take a motor a part. Gotta love a kid that don't mind getting his hands dirty.

Thats awsome---I wish I had access to machines and enignes back when I was 5. I remember when I got my first go kart, I was about 10 and didn't know much about engines and stuff. But since then I feel pretty confident taking apart stuff like that. Its great to start em' young.
