OK--My pet peeve has finally surfaced on a piece of MY equipment----A sheared crank key-----Go ahead guys---Yucck it up----

A simple enough fix---or so I thought---

The Flywheel has three little holes--in triangular pattern , But they arent threaded.
Anybody know how to get it off , or should I just "TAP" the holes and use a puller????????

if it is a briggs and stratton engine they are threaded with a 5/16-18 thread.
if it's a pull start engine.
get an old pull start clutch and tear it apart and keep the square part.
slide this over the crankshaft and being careful, put a prybar onder the edge of the flywheel and smack the square part firmly.
the flywheel will jar loose then.

Would a two arm gear puller work. I have used it on ATC flywheels

Nope ...its a Tecumseh------

And it now has threads in the "PULLER" holes-----lol---
I have no Idea -about the logic behind not tapping the holes at the factory, but Its fixed, so Thanx for the tip.

techumsh has a special puller used for pulling the flywhel.
another way is to place a brass bar on the crank and a prybar under the flywheel and strike the brass. the flywheel should jar loose then.

I used a 1/4-20 tap on the holes and a hub puller and it came right off---there isnt a throttle control on my model -(Governor does it all)----so I'll see if it "GRENADES"
under normal revs.........My parts supplier has the flywheels in stock, so we'll see what happens?
