I am going to be driving when school ends this year. I simply don't want to be on the road without a radar dectector!!! Don't get me wrong I'm not a maniac driver or anything, but lets face it, sometimes you have to do 10mph or so or else your gonna get forced off the road!!
So once agian I'm turning to my friends at 3WW for help. What brands do you guys use or recomend??? And what ones do you NOT recomend??? Also should I just buy a used one and save myself some $$$???
P.S. I know this isn't the classifieds but if anybody has one they are looking to sell PM with info and a price please!!!
Thanks guys! -Devin

I bought a cheapy $30 from walmart 5 years ago. I havent gotten a single ticket since, and this thing has saved me from at least 12 or 13. Just gotta be on the ball, and as soon as you hear it go off, slam on the brakes. The only thing that sucks around here, I do that a lot.. look for the cop.. then flip off the farmer in the John Deere out in the field next to me because he set it off.. hahaha.

The troopers here in Ohio are BIG on using laser so radar detectors are almost useless. Your standard laser detector is useless too. By the time it goes off it means they allready have you. Laser has no stray signals to pickup so if a laser detector goes off and you're speeding you get a ticket.
Best thing to use is a laser diffuser. They are costly but they do work. Check k40. Also don't forget your front plates. They will pull you over for not having one. And always wear your seatbelt. Ohio troopers are real sticklers for that.

Sad thing is that laser guns can nail you at 2000 feet +, and your detector, no matter what the brand will not register until you are already got. The "jammers" that scrable the radar/laser signal, only work about 50-60% of the time, too.

The cops have technology that is always ahead of the latest "speed all you want" gimmick out there.

Trust me. If they wanna get you, they got you. Drive within 10 MPH of the speed limit, wear your seatbelt, hold a valid licence, and you'll be fine.:D

You hit the nail on the head there. But, some officers are still using radar detectors that are continously on, and in that case, a radar detector/jammer will help you out.

And if you get a jammer, and a cop with a laser gun hones in on you and his detector is acting up...he will come after you, because he will know.

Do a search over at the www.officer.com forums. There have been several discussions about this.
