from what I've heard tecates are faster but dont handle jumps as well and arnt as reliabile as a tri-Z or 250R. but I would still like to find a nice tecate myself, for the right price anyway.

86/87 Tecates are definently faster than Tri-Z's. The biggest weak point of a Tecate is the stator going bad and costing an arm, leg, wrist, ankle and nose to replace OEM. =)

Both year Tecate's handle much better in Jumps and everywhere than Tri-Zs. The 86 Tecate especially. I know, I have both Tecate designs and a Tri-Z. Both tecate motors are also much more powerful motors. these are my opinion, as an owner and rider of each, of stock vs. stock comparisons.
