Ok guys. I know some of you have had problems before, so I thought I would ask about a problem Im having. Keep in mind that I have had 205 transactions with no negative feedback. Here we go.

I sold my Fisher ID Excell metal detector about 3 weeks ago on Ebay. I sold it for about half the new price. It was like new and in EXCELLENT condition cosmetically and mechanically/electronically. I shipped it off to the buyer in the factory box that It was shipped to me in. Approximately 13 days after the detector was purchased, and 8 days after it was delivered I get this email. The lady says ( i have a different name for her ) said that it did not work properly and part of the electronics were not working at all. She said that she didnt appreciate being ripped off and that she wanted her money back as these problems were not in the description.

I responded by saying that It wasnt in the description because it did not have these problems. I tested it before I shipped it. The auction even shows the LCD Digital readout ON AND WORKING. I stated that it must have been damaged in shipping or by her or her husband/kids etc.... It was not broken when it left my possession. I also said that I HAD insured the item with UPS for $300. However, she has waited 8-9 days until after the delivery to say that its broken/damaged. There is NO WAY UPS is going to honor the insurance now. Just like me, they will likely think that the USER damaged it because its been so long. So, I told her she was out of luck. Im not refunding her, and I am not going to eat this one as its not my fault.

No other contact from this lady. Almost 3 weeks now. Now I get a email from PAYPAL. A $250 temp hold is on my account, bringing the balance to negative $250. So I have answered all the emails, question, and statements that PayPal wanted me to. I have also talked to them. They seemed to understand and agree with my points. Especially about the taking 8 days to whine about it. They said it would be sent up the chain for someone to decide what to do with it. So im a little agrivated to say the least.

They DID say that the other lady (@#$@@) would have to PROVE that I knowingly sold the item in its current condition. So, I personally thing thats going to be next to impossible for her to do.

What do you guys think?

Have you ever had to deal with crap like this?

If so what was the outcome.

Adam, have you ever had this kinda crap to deal with. I know you could write a book about Paypal. Anyone have any thoughts?????

Does your ad say "as is"?

No. But it did say that it was used twice ( 2 times in the auction ) & NO returns. I do this on all my auctions.

Yeah thats what Im hoping. I just cant believe that there is a possibility that I may get this thing back broken when it left my hands AOK. I dont see how or why I should be expected to eat this. Especially when he waited so dang long to notify me of a problem. Hell for all I know their kid could have knocked it off the table, dropped it in a pool etc... Just chaps my ass.

Is it possible that she doesn't know how to use it and only thinks that its not working right. I don't know how complicated they are but that could be a possibility?:wondering

I think that is a definate possibility also. It digital, so its not a cake walk. Regardless, my auction didnt say ( hey try it out and if your too stupid to work it send it back for a refund ). LOL.

Clay, left my phone at home ove rthe weekend as we went up to the lake house. Darn things rings all week, so I wasn't ignoring your calls I just didn't have it with me. I noticed you called two times over the weekend when I got the phone out today and now I see why. As far as me being able to write a book about paypal, yes I could write a book, scroll, poem, rap song and so forth about all of the bad dealing with PayPal. Also with Ebay, but I am trying to keep my mouth shut about that as of now becasue they are actually letting my account alone.

I really don't know what I could tell you that would help you out with your situation with them. I would watch though with a negative balance that they do no automatically pull funds from what ever sourc eyou fund your paypal with as they are known to do that. You will just have to keep all of your documentation of shipping and your auction description and Email between both parties. Paypal is very simple documentation run. They are gonna wind up asking you for tracking information I am sure and if you have proof of insurance on the packaging. When she took possesion of the package etc. Be sure to check in with paypal daily so you do not miss a notification that you have to act on and not win the dispute because of that.

Thanks man. I have all that info on the tracking and insurance here at work. Our shipping deptartment keeps up with it also. I have all the other info on hand also. I also know what your talking about when you say to check it daily. I filled a claim against her, and nearly missed something. I had to give an additional bit of info to paypal. They didnt email me. If I hadnt checked it, I would have lost my butt. So im glad I did. Thanks for the tips man. I really appreciate it.

Hey also, you might want to do screen shots of your auction completed. Show all the parts of the auction including the ending price and such. Cuz ebay could kill the auction and you wouldnt have any proof to show what your auction says. Copy the screen shots and put them in a Word doc or something and hold onto them. Keep all your documents including her emails too. Documentation is the best thing to have in circumstances such as this. Good luck bra..........peace
