the blizzard 5500 has a had a 503 fan cooled engine. i herd good and bad things about the 503. they are powerfull when its cold out about 23-35 f it is a fan cooled engine but like any engine the cooler it is the better it runs. they are lite engines for ther size. now the bad thing i herd about them is it takes em a while to get wormed up. they are a very cold harted engine.but for the most part i would have to say its a reliable engine for being a 2 stroke. plus its a rotax. ooo yea 1 more thing most blizzard parts can be used on each other. i had a blizzard 9500+ and it had paerts of a 5500,6500 and even a 340 rv. now for 600.00 it better be mint or at least real close to mint i bought my running 9500+ for 200.00. it wasnt a showcase sled but boy did it haul but. hope i helped you a little if you need any more specs give me a halla i have 3 big books full of ski doo info. well for the older sleds

Thanks you there 84honda200s, I dont really mind if I have to let it warm up a little, but I know 600 might be a little steep, but I would really like a fast machine that is reliable that I can have for a LONG time, and it says the skidoo also comes with a spare engine and seet. Also, I need something to race my moms BF's 1979 skidoo Blizzard. Here is a pic of his blizzard.

danm should be a good race if you both got blizzards. it may come down to your guys weight. hers a tip wenu race use about 1/4 tank of gas dont fill it up. also if its cold out lean it out. i used to do it with my 9500+ it flew when i leaned it out. if your big into it get a short track for it lol i had 101 inch on mine

I'd say it's an ok deal, but $450 or $500 would be better even with a spare engine. I got my 95 Formula (pictured in this section) for $1500.

Well guys, I broke down and bought it. Here are a whole crap load of pictures(sorry about the size) also got a spare engine and another seat, and I also got a skidoo cover with it. The guy wouldnt take less than $600 because he bought it for $500 and then sank $400 into boring the engine and rebuilding it.

I know, that is a horrible blue, he said that is was a horrible yelllow(must have been painted before) and then he said he painted it a blue. I will look for a hood around here because I dont have ebay. I will keep ya up to date on things I do, and I understand what you mean it takes along time to warm up, When it is +1 it takes around 3 minutes to warm up, god know what it will take when it is -30. And also the tach doesnt work so I have to check that out.

if it was a "bad" yellow that is how some blizzards came mine did. just sand it and repaint it the color you want it. i have a tach if you need one. i am pretty sure it works. yea man keep me up to date. i cant wait to see what she will come out as.
