Well finally got the diff out of the front of my newly aquirred AWD GMC Safari van and this is what I found!!!

That cone shaped thing on the right used to be a pinion gear!!!!!
It belonged to a middle aged woman who did pretty good maintaince,brakes fluids ect.. but man can you imagine the racket the diff made while it was internally destroying itself LOL???

at work we get people coming in for rotors saying "they just started to squeek" we take a look at them and they will be grooved to all hell, or my favorite, all the way into the fins
