found a guy whos got a 1986 yamaha 225 trike. its in pretty good shape, new tires, new brakes. but he says it needs rings. he want 400 bucks for it. is this a decent deal. and are these trikes any good? :?:

DUDE SNAG IT!!! Especially if it's a DR. But it's even worth it if it's a DX. Yamaha 225's are great all around trikes and will handle whatever you throw at them besides heavy mx type riding (REALLY big air.) But they are reliable and just great all around trikes. DR's are better because they have reverse; I drive an '84DX.

I have an '85 DR and yes they are a very solid trike. A new set of rings and possibly new valve seals should provide you with a great ride for many years to come. $400 is a reasonable price too.

sounds like a great deal.

225's are great machine. a 225 was one of the 1st trikes ive ever rode---very impressive. Id say they are a close choice next to the big red 250's for best trail riding utility.

Actually the big reds are more of a work horse. Honda filled the sports utlilty void with the 250SX.
