i grade lumber at a sawmill. i stand at a chain as the lumber goes buy it comes up on a platform i put different marks on it depending how knotty it is and how much needs cut off the end. a computerized saw with a blade each foot drops down and cuts the ends off automaticaly later down the chain.
then it drops in seperate bines by length and the mark i put on it. all that is done by computers also
the place i work at is the biggest sawmill in the east coast 600 employees.

My construction job ,is being a crane operator up in the Metro Detroit area, setting and pouring poured walls of all shapes and sizes,(residential & commercial)I really don't do much other than tell the Laborers what there doing wrong,It is all union so me being an operator ,I ain't supposed to do anything other than maintain the equipment, but I throw on the tool belt every now and then, but work has been slow up here in Michigan,so last week I took a giant step and took a voulenteer layoff to persue my Muddogs Restorations business, restoring our beloved Trikes ,quads and sled and selling parts, that I have been doing on the side for a few years, been good so far!!! And when I get bored me and my Dad and Brother collect old Jonny Popper 2 cylinder tractors and restore some of them ,and that gives me alot of travel time down to Ohio,Indiana,Iowa,Missouri and alot of other states picking these machines up ,plus we farm a few hundred acres ,as a cash crop farm down in Waldron ,Mi -by the Ohio line!!
I was in instrument technician, but then took a position in instrument design. That got boring really quick. Now i am a Estimator/ Scheduler for an E/I company. It is great. Fantastic money, Tons of perks and all i do is play with money and peoples hours all day long. Right now I am at the Shell facility. This is a huge, a few 10 millions job and it is my baby. the downside is i have to work alot of hours doing nothing so that were 3ww comes in. Sorry no pics at the plant.

I am a communication tech for a small independent phone company. We only have 1200 customers, however, of those more than 700 have broadband connections ranging from 128k DSL to 14Mb 3 Streams of digital Video and 1Mb Internet connections to the home on copper. Being so small we only have 7 employees - my duties range from Mgr of Head End (approx 100 digital rec'rs) Digital encoders / compressors and a 10 Meter dish with 8 LNBs to installing home equipment - modems - Set-top boxes and Home Networks. I am also in charge of Internet operations from start to finish (dial up and broadband) Also do some telephone line maintenance and trouble shooting. Within the next 5 years we are planning to run Fiber to the home. This will be a huge undertaking, but we will be able to offer 1 Gig connections to the home. Not bad for Rural Pennsylvania!

Retired at 40. All my friends said I was crazy to join the Army right out of high school, now they are jealous as hell! Good thing you didnt say you were a forklift operator!!!
I used to work for coca cola bottling years ago. The warehouse for the 2 liters was an open area, and the 2-liter cases were cardboard. After a good rain and high humidity, the entire warehouse looked like your picture..Dave
Well...I am a forklift operator for them. But all the 2 liters, .5 liters, and 20oz's are in plastic shells now. We are indoors, and they only fall over if someone runs into them with a lift  The new guys like to knock over/drop/spill pallets!

uhh oooppsss...hehe I tried Coke once, I didnt like it much cuz the ice cubes kept getting stuck in my nose!:D
On a side note, I made 39 in November this year. A few years ago I hurt my back and didnt think all too much of it at the time. The pain went away a few days later.
2 weeks ago I was unloading some tvs from a truck for our hotel. They were not heavy at all, maybe 50lbs., and turned the wrong way. It hasnt gotten any better, and hurts constantly. It hurts sitting, standing, crouching down and takes me almost 15 minutes to get out of bed lately. I havent been to the doc yet and Im kinda scared what they may say. Im am so worried because Im not sure if I will be able to do lots of the things Im used to doing like riding, boating, mechanic work, carpentry....
Anyhow, the moral of this story: Watch what you do with your body now, especially you younger fellas...You will hurt later!!! Dave

Dave I feel for ya man.Back pain is the worst.Do you have pain that runs down your leg?If you do it is probably a disc.I hope you don't have that problem that is what I had,3 of them blew out on me.It was the worst pain I ever felt in my life.I had to have surgery on one of them. The others weren't as bad.Try to stretch as much as you can. It's about the only thing I have found that releives the pain at least temporarly. Also drink plenty of water.I take aleve and put ice on the area for the times when it is really inflammed. There is alot of information about back pain on the web too.
Good luck with it I hope you heal up:wondering

I just gone serving 4 years in the Marine Corps stationed in Hawaii, I was an 0431 Embarkation Logistics Specialist loading Military Aircraft and Ship Vessels w/ equipment and cargo for shipment. I got honorably dis-charged back in June and now I work here at home for Coca Cola as a SAles Merchandiser, pretty soon to move on to a Truck Driver delivering Bulk loads once I pass my CDL test in the next couple weeks.

Currently I am installing high end office furniture. I'm making as much as I was when I was fabricating trucks at my last job; lawyers, goverment agencys and native corporations have lots of money to spend. Found out that last week the glass contractor had broken a pane in a $40,000 conference table. At least I get to work inside around pretty secrataries!
I'm also in the Alaska Army National Guard. Very soon I will be going to school to be a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter mechanic. I am working on getting my ASE certifications to help me get a full time technician job on base in the automotive field or aviation. I'll take my AFAST and work on getting into the flight program after I learn the bird for awhile. I would eventually like to fly these helicopters and become a warrant officer.
If anyone is interested in serving in Alaska for a few years let me know. Security jobs at Fort Greely (where the ICBM missile defense site is) are paying something like $3000 to $4000 a month. Interstate transfers and brand new enlistments are always welcome!

Sheetfed Printing Press Operator
NO pics allowed, but what fun is it to look at a printing press not moving.
I used to work on f-14 stuff. My favorite was the radar antenna. We weren't allowed to take pictures of anything but then comes the :welcome: "distinguished visitors" taking pictures of EVERYTHING. The even wanted me to demonstrate the antenna because it was the only thing that moved and looked cool although its so noisy. They loved taking pictures of that for some reason.

Just remember guys...Its not what ya do, its if your happy doing it. I would rather be poor and happy than rich and unhappy!
I just can't see it being rich and unhappy. Maybe I am too materialistic but the more 'friends' the better. Being poor and happy? Ya, ok. :wondering I think you got the two sets mixed up. If I was poor, I would not be able to afford riding an atc, therefore just how would I be happy? Nope, I would be very :( :(

A friend of mine threw his back out this past spring. Everything went fine until a couple of months ago when it went out again. Now it's constantly hurting him, and he has the sharp pain down his leg. Doctor said it was a pinched nerve (he went for X-rays and a MRI).
Anyways...I can lift 4600lbs with one finger.
....Really! :D

[QUOTE=sandpuppi101And when I get bored me and my Dad and Brother collect old Jonny Popper 2 cylinder tractors and restore some of them/QUOTE]
Sweet! Nice Deeres in that pic! My dad and brother and I are restoring a 1939 John Deere LA, we used to have a 60, a B, and a bunch of other ones.
As far as my job, I'm still a student in college so nothing full time, but I do a bunch of part time stuff at my school. I've done work for a bunch of contractors, roofing, septic, etc. I've also had a job as a cleaner at a high school, work on the family farm, and used to install fireplace inserts and stoves. Hoping to be working as a mandolin/guitar instructor at the music place in town soon as well.

Nope, no cd player. For some strange reason, it doesn't give the passengers a warm fuzzy feeling if they think were watching movies or listening to music while flying the plane. Some passengers don't think we should eat up there either. Boeing was nice enough to equip the cockpit with 5, count 'em, 5 cup holders though!
