as for the sled its a 1976 skidoo tnt 340 twin been a good old sled, ive had it for 2 years now, when i went to get it in my buddies garage this past weekend i discoverd some critters made a nest under the motor. So i pulled the motor cleaned that stuff up and started to clean everything else too. im going to wire wheel and paint the exhaust and maybe polish some engine parts while i wait for the ice to freeze up.

yup tore the motor down the rest of the way tonight and it is indeed in need of new pistons and rings, im going to replace both seeing as that cylinder supposedly had a new piston put in about 6 to 10 years ago before the sled was parked, once i get the other jug off im going to take them to a machine shop and get it either 20 over or 40 over seeing as thats the only sizes i can get pistons for locally. in the mean time all the aluminum covers are getting polished and i have got new gaskets, going to clean the carb and see what it needs, sliders for the secondary clutch, spark plugs, recoil rope , all new fuel lines to go on and a filter as it has none right now. All for about 40$ cdn so its not bad, now i need to get a good degreaser to clean out the tunnel. While i have the pipes off those are getting wire brushed and a new coat of hightemp black paint. thats all i can think of right now, once i make some progress im going to post more pics :)

Damb you for getting snow. Here in Nova Scotia the ground is still bare. My sister has a dandilion blossoming in her front yard. Sweet pic with the atc. I was never a fan of ski doo except for there alpine twin track 1 ski machines. Im more of a big blue man myself.Sno*jets are and will always be the best snowmobiles. Critters like the older sled cause of ther jug style mufflers. I think all my older 68-75 sleds with this style mufflers all had critters. We should meet up sometime.

bathurst is on the northeast top of new brunswick its about 5.5 hours from halifax , when i used to travel to halifax i would just jump on the #2 east just outside of moncton and go that way, i know my directions suck.. lol just go on google maps and search for bathurst nb, explains it better then i can.

gizmo_22
12-29-2006, 01:50 PM
well the sled is the winter toy and so is the bike, if you were asking what i drive, its a 91 3/4ton gmc with a strange flatbed on the back, its got some electrical issues with the rear lights. And i need to replace some front end parts and a driveshaft hanger bearing. other then that it runs great

How goes the sled project? I have taken pistons that look like that and sanded them down just a bit. Same with the rings. But these were all beaters and no where the condition of your sled. Do you know anyone on here from your area?
Im trying to tally up enough people to make a atlantic trike fest.

gizmo_22
12-29-2006, 11:19 PM
nope havent found anyone on here from my area yet, im like the only one that rides a trike in all our off highway driving excursions, i know there are others, but i havent met up with any yet.. the sled project awaits funding from a much needed paycheque, so im polishing all the aluminum i can unbolt , lol its extreamly tedious, and its not perfect aluminum to work with. But it is going to turn out 100X better then the silver spray paint on it now...
