decided today im getting rid of the sleds.winters are getting worse every year.here in upstate ny.it just aint worth it anymore.been riding since 75 we used to get pounded every year.im getting wheelers for the family and we can ride any time we want. makes sense to me now.we use to love sledding but its few and far between now. i may have to get treatment.for this addiction ive had for most of my life.but when were all out riding the trails when its 75-80 out It :( will get me over it.

I hear ya man. Ever since I can remember we've always had 2-3 feet of snow in January, and I loved takin the sleds out riding. We havent had a decent snowfall in 2 years now. Still hoping we get some soon though

Yup, I would love to be able to afford a new RX1, but the older ones dont do too bad either:naughty: My 1983 Yamaha 440 SS may not be a liquid cooled tripple, but it gets great gas mileage and it still hits almost 85mph in my little back field. Heres my old tnt 640 before I sold it. I do miss the snow:(

Nice 9500 man!!! I always wanted one of those. yeah, we did a partial restore of the tnt 640. Its funny, you'd think it would be really fast having such a big engine, but it wasnt. That was mostly because of the weight and the drag, the steel tunnel, 18 inch track, the thing was just a beast. Lots of power if you had to pull something, but it didnt go much faster than 50mph. It was clean when I sold it though, sure do miss it

man thanks the 9500+ is worth all the hype. it is one fast sled. i was turning it into a drag sled. it was bored 20 i think had the k&n filters on it, comet 102c geard for racing. man i sure mis it.

yea those 640's look pretty beastly. kinda like the old john deere 500 my father had one. it went threw everything but when it got stuck oooo boy you wer in for a long day digging it out. the best all around sled i had was a 79 polaris gemini 244 single. it did only like 40 but you cant beat the bars across the track and it did have some power i never got stuck with that thing.

Good luck getting rid of the sleds. Dealerships are buried in inventory. Not to many are taking trades. For some dealers this will be the nail in the coffin. You can literally drive down any road in my county and find a sled forsale.Ive been working for a dealer for quite sometime, this has been the first winter by far i have ever seen.

yeah I had a real hard time selling the 640, ending up taking it to a snowmobile show/grass drags and was able to get a few collectors to start droolin, heh. Still didnt get near what I had into it though, or what I probably could have gotten had there been snow on the ground, but hey thats life.

84honda200s, I know what you mean about the John Deere 500, we have two 400s, which dont have the wide track but are similar in that they both hate loose snow/powder and like to dig themselves in deep when they get stuck. One of my all time favorite sleds is my Dad's 250cc 72 Ski Doo Elan. The thing probably tops out at about 35mph and isnt too powerful, but its light enough to float over the light snow instead of plowin through it, and the electric start is great :) Sure is depressing sitting here talking about snow, then looking out the window and seeing green grass, hope we get some before the season is up

yea i hear ya. i kept 1 sled and i took the engine out mostly so it wont sieze up. its a 1975 everest se. i also kept my 100% alminum chassis from my 1979 everest 444 l/c

i had 6 sleds all at once now i just have them 2 parctial sleds. because the winters are so danm bad now. it broke my heart when i had to sell the blizzard.

Wanna know what REALLY sucks?? Having to move form MI. to GA. and not having time enough in the summer to sell and be stuck with a '95 Ski-Doo Mach Z 780. Piped,clutched...ready to rock. Looks great sitting under it's cover....it's 65* today...bright blue sky, flannel shirt weather.:(

Yeah...I know. I did the drag race scene for a few years. SRX's were my gig...along with the old Rupp L/C Magnums. I'd rather sell it or trade it to someone in the snowbelt.

Kind of sad to look outside on the first of Jan. and see bare ground , I feel for the people who purchased new sleds last year and this year. I live in Maine and was talking to the local sled shop, and they told me that there was already several sled dealerships that closed their doors this year because of sales. Thats too bad. I have a couple old Chaparral ssx I would like to get rid of if anybody is interested.

Isn't this weather crazy? 70 degrees in New York. I wish we'd either get snow like Denver or heat like New York. All we've been getting here in Idaho is cold.

Those 81's are tough to find. They were even tougher on crankshafts. If you want to know a real expert on those sleds look up Mark Elwell on vintagesleds.com/bullsessions. He lives down in Arkport,NY but man does he know is CHIT about 81 SRX's he's quite the guru to say the least. Good luck with her!
