Well hanging up the helmet untill dune season and going to start working on my quad. Just going to work my way through it replacing parts and adding a little "bling". I still havent decided weather or not to powder coat it or paint it, but i have some time to figure that out. here are some pics of the progress (not much)... sorry about the quality, phone pics.

hey el,capitan are you gonna buy after market a arms for her? and axle and maybe motor mods?

El'Capitan
01-18-2007, 03:10 PM
i am planning on getting new a=arms and an extended axle a little longer down the road, i just dont have the funds right now to cover that. As far as the engine goes it will be left alone for the most part, with the exception of reeds and a bigger carb.

when i raced a q racer back in the 90s a nice cheap upgrade was to use 250r a arms...they were wider and worked great for me

hey capitan have you seen that 92 lt 250 on craigslist here in portland area? black and yellow...looks pretty sharp but dude is firm on 2800. I too am looking into a 250 quad but just cant commit. This 92 looks like a beaut in the pics but its been on there for forever and a half, bad sign. youve got some hands on...anything I should look out for? What made you choose an LT for a dune machine? Hope you have smooth sailin with the resto.

El'Capitan

I chose it because i could get once cheaper than even a atc250r around here (1,200) and it had a fresh rebuild; it offered the power of the trx250r for a fraction of the price. I havent had a chance to take it out to the dunes but i do have some seat and wrench time on it and havent regretted the purchase at all. As far as what to look out for i would just say all the basic stuff as in cracks in the frame, ect. 2800 is quite a bit for one in my oppinion, i saw one on craigslist resently for 1200 in pretty good condition. Before i purchased the quadracer i read countless "250cc shootouts" in old atv action magazines and it came out ahead of the tecate and just a few points behind the trx, and the only thing the trx has is that it has a massive ammount of aftermarket parts out there, where as the quadracer dosnt have much. However, anything that could go wrong on the quadracer is easlily available to be replaced.

01-21-2007, 12:25 AM
If you are staying with yellow fenders, I would go with a blue frame.

350xBomb
01-22-2007, 08:03 AM
I agree blue frame with yellow fenders...they look beatuiful in stock trim. Thanks for the input...I was thinking the same thing in terms of price...

El'Capitan

El'Capitan
02-06-2007, 03:42 AM

Well its getting close to done; just a few things before it will be ready to rock and roll. On the list are

Shock covers (hide those ugly beasts till i have enough $$ for new ones)
Seat cover
pair of Haulers (already have the front mowhawks mounted on aluminum wheels)
New clutch perch and lever
and a couple other fit and finish things.

its my rider, not my garage queen ;)

are you going to get stock 250r a arms for it? it will make it wider

El'Capitan
02-12-2007, 12:17 AM
hmm, didnt really think about that, how much wider will they make it...and how hard is it to make them fit.

SWIGIN
02-12-2007, 12:22 AM
well i did it back around 93 or 94 but they bolt right on and if you get the ones with removable ball joint you can adjust your camber

with the normal 2x3 offset wheels it was right around 50'' wide witch is the limit for racing

So they fit without welding? I assume you would need the honda spindles and hubs as well. Was this on a '87-92 machine?

it was on a 89 but your right...87-92 would be the same and i used the suzuki hubs and spindles

i had what ever year r a arms that have the welded on ball joints and they were shot so i cut them off and used the suzuki ball joints

I'd definately throw some wider r A-arms on there, it would look more agressive and hancle better for you. Ever thought of painting your plastic ?

I like it. Are you doing to put the headlight back on it? I think it looks better with it on.

El'Capitan
02-12-2007, 08:39 PM
well the headlight that came with it had a busted up cage that went over it, so ill keep my eyes out for a new one of those on ebay, when i find one for a good price ill snatch it up.
