hey man its sucks that you got extended over there! but dont thank bush for extending you. your the one who raised your right hand and new full well that this could happen. i have spent 24 months in iraq and i'm getting ready to head back again, but i'm not int the guard or reserve. dont get the wrong idea i'm not trying to be a dick but i'm tired of hearing about all these guard and reserve people complaining about being called up and having to do what they signed up to do. kind of seems the want the benefits of wearing the uniform but dont want what comes with it. but i have been in the active army for a while and we deal with and do this every day. i'm not downgrading the guard so dont get me wrong idea. but thats my opinion and you know what they say about that, opinions are like butts everybody has one!

I'm sorry you got extended, but thanks for doing the job you are doing. I spent 6 years in the active service and saw duty in beirut when all the crap was hitting the fan over there in the eighties. Be Safe As You Can, Kick Ass And Take Names. I'll say an extra prayer for your safe return.

I dont think he's complaining that he has to do the job. Its just that he's anticipating going home then this happens. I think he deserves a big thank you and prayers to come home safe.

Thanks to all of you here who do what you do, so I can do what I WANT to do! (say that 3 times fast) . Many thanks and many prayers. You all deserve the biggest thanks that anyone who calls themselves American could have.
I just wish the naysayers and anti's would wake up and realize that if it wouldnt be for you,and the people before you, they couldn't say what they are saying!
Thank you for the all the days and nights away from your loved ones, your hobbies, your jobs, your regular lives. Just, Thanks Dave

Get yourself a combat straw and suck it up. It happens.
A public posting forum is not the place to make derogatory statements about the Commander in Chief.
Maybe you can use this unexpected extension to improve yourself. Try enrolling in an English course during your time in garrison.

My roommates brother just had his tour in Afganisthan extended six months. This was announced six days before they were scheduled to be back in the states. No matter how you feel about being in the military this is tough news to hear, especially when they were loading up their stuff into shipping containers to go back home.
