well i found this TRX and its only like an hour away from me. ive always wanted a 500r based quad but they never pop up around me so i guess this is my chance.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-TRX-250R-HONDA-WITH-MONSTER-CR-500-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ200071869771QQihZ010QQcategoryZ672 4QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

do you guys think its worth it? can you guys spot anything wrong with it that maybe i may have missed. i noticed a black spot on the intake that from the picture makes it look like a hole but it may just be the picture.
is there any thing with this year TRX or CR that i should look out for?
If i take my 250r atc kick start lever will i be able to tell if the kickstarter works problerly?
thanks for any help you guys can give me

dont buy it!!! Ive done it and it will rattle your teeth out!!! The vibration with a cr motor in a quad is 20 time's more than a trike!! everything rattles, bolts never stay tight even with red lock tite. first your feet go numb and then your hands.Go over and ride it you will see. 15min rides are no problem but after that forget it! Parted it out on ebay There's a sweet Dynoport trx 500 pipe out there somewhere now:(

ours had the motor rubber mounted and incorperated lower banshee motor mounts rubber diped the kicker, shifter Filled the frame with rubber in the steering stem area and the nerf bars were fill also and a GPR stableizer
That did help But i couldnt imagine what that one would be like mounted the way it is.

hey raffa but how does one more wheel make a differance? could it just have been that particular engine?

Bryan Raffa

its NOT THE WHEEL!!! its the frame GEOMETRY!!!! And it has to do with the vibrations that travel through it... It amplifies the vibrations, GO ride it for a half hour. Then come back and tell me what you think, Been there and done that. stick with a counter balanced motor like a zilla. The only thing i see worthless is you wasteing your money on it.;)

Motor should of been mounted differently. At least put the swing arm bolt thru the cases like an ATC 250/500 swap.

i agree with Bryan raffa 100%, had some experiance with implanting 4 stroke engines (ktm 560, crf 450) into trx frames. you my get the holeshot but you'll never stay long in front, and after the race you have to go round the track picking up pieces of your bike that have rattled off!......... AHHH THE JOYS!!...

yeah he did by like $1000 WTF? i called the guy 2 days ago and he told me there where like 10 other people trying to buy it but i see 0 bids? he also said he wasnt gona let it got for anything lower than the buy it now and that if it didnt reach he was gona close the auction early and was gona part the bike out. i bet he just changed his mind and want to part it out now.
man i was thinking about buying it with the buy it now price and swapping engines with my atc and keeping the trx for a while and if i didnt like it sell it later

He took it for a ride, got a little wind in his hair and now thinks it's worth more. Hack install from my perspective.

thats things has to have RX sindrome since the sprocket is way higher then the singarm bolt. the chain will get looser as the suspension compreses.

i agree with the bad vibrations

wth 350x conversions the lower frame tubes have to be widened in order for the motor to sit lower in the frame to line up with the swingarm. the cr500 conversions, thye rattle themselves and you apart, no mattter how you mount the motor. Also 350x conversions have a tendency to throw chains.

the vibes must be unreal in a quad frame,,, i ride my 500 all day without any problems,,, i have seen a counterbalanced cr 500 motor somewhere just can't remember where,,,,,,

hey ATVNUT with all of those hoseclamps i can't see how you keep it together any way ,, sorry your installation scares me,,

man i was real close to buying that qaud off of you atvnut. but the sale of my 250r fell through. kinda glad i didnt now that i found out them 500's vibrate real bad in quads.
i guess now ill start looking for a 500 to put into my act frame. Is there any certain years i should look for or try to stay away from?

You wouldnt have been dissapointed with its performance, it always ran real well...It was difficult for me to start, as well as a handfull to launch on the track..I can turn more consistant times with my 250r but, It was an absolute rush to ride!

Also 350x conversions have a tendency to throw chains.

unless the frame is widened and the motor lowered...mine has never thrown a chain
