No mag yet Aussie, but I'm watchin for It thanks again buddy. The 450 fell right Into the X frame. I'm waiting on a stock 450r swinger to finish the rear suspension. I want to keep the quad rolling so It does'nt get In the way

Looks to me like that 350X frame is the way to go,Thats an '86 frame ,correct? The motor appears to sit back more than the 350,is that pretty much where you'r gonna build the mounts too?? You can't really roll it forward and down due to the carb, can you?? Very intersting,I know its gonna be nice ... just checking some thing out !!Are you going with the 350X swinger still? I am on to a similar but not the same project, just poking around..

man is that thing going to rip! Gives me an idea for another project, I have my triZ frame for a YFZ motor but I think the frame is a bit to small to squeeze that into it.. Looks good though pal, nice work!

What kind of motor mounts changing did you have to do to make that fit? I'm doing almost the same conversion for my senior project. I haven't decided on either a atc500r or a atc450x. Both would be sweet, but I'm worried about the 450r motor $$$. Good luck with your project, and keep us updated.

I'm thinking I will need some more strength In the lower frame tubes. So I will probly use bigger tubing & lower the front of the motor down a little. That will also make the lower motor mount easier to get to. I will use a 450r swingarm, rear shock & linkage. The 450 shock Is mounted lower than a 250r shock. That will let the carb to air box boot fit sweet.

I cut the lower motor mount off & also cut the front mounts off, Then It fit right In. I also cut the rear shock mount off because It needs to be moved down In order to keep the rear ride height the same as the 450r. I have lots more work to do, but It's coming along better than I expected.

Sandpuppi101, It Is a 86 frame.

Is the swinger off a 450r quad or 2-wheeler?

What do you think?

The swingarm Is from a 05 TRX450r. I bought It on Ebay for 55.00 + shipping.

The TRX 450 swinger will bolt straight in ?

The 450r swinger will not just bolt Into the 350x. It needs to be modified In the front. The 450 swinger Is about 3/4 of an Inch wider than the X. I don't have the correct end mill to modifI It myself so my buddy has to do It on Monday. I will post up more pic's when I get the swinger On.

Hey Aussie, I got the Mag. Wow those are some AWESOME pic's. You guys are great. The pics are so clear, I love the layed down 200. The guy that built that baby Is one smart dude. Thanks again ol buddy.

Is that a Fork Stabilizer on the front?

Is that a Fork Stabilizer on the front?
Sure is.

I've wondered about it. Looks like it sticks out a good bit. Wonder how well it works?

Jason Hall

Yes that Is a stabilizer made for a 350x. I don't know for sure If I'll use It. I'll be putting Inverted forks from a 01 cr125 on the front. The radiator will be In the way unless I mount the stabilizer on a steap angle, I guess we'll see what happens. I did run the X with It on there & It really stiffens the front end up. The bars don't jerk, but you cant feel that It Is harder to turn. In the pic I have the engine side unhooked.

Louis, Give me a call, I have some Ideas for you on the 450r conversion. I have some parts to make a few thing easier on ya. 1-517-206-7635.

Wonder if It would work on a 250r?

Jason Hall
01-28-2007, 01:40 PM
You would need to make a bracket for the rear side. The X In the pic has 250r tripples & forks on It now. I'm sure It could be made to fIt.

Got any better pics of the stabilizer?

Tell me how it works?

Thanks

Jason Hall

Here Is a better pic of the stabilizer. I said In a previous post that It keeps the bars from jerking your arms as expected, but Is noticably harder to steer. When racing It would really work great though I bet. Normal riding might wear on your arms a bit.

That stabilizer looks a bit ordinary Jason. Especialy mated up to the fine work you've done so far.

Have you considered an adjustable one there are a lot of ajustable ones on the market.

It is possible to over dampen the steering to the point where you will induce fatigue.

Jason Hall

OZQUAD44, I traded some parts for the stabilizer. I don't think I will even use It with the 450r engine. Never know though.

I got the swinger modded today, wow It fits sweet. The chain lines up perfect. Need to make 2 spacers for the outside between the frame & swingarm. Once I get those In I will post up some new pic's :Bounce

neither here nor there. and dude, slow down when you're typing man!

Anywho, our 450 is still under way, Jason is gonna get some tubing bent for the lower cradle. We'll get her done by TF!
