Does anyone build or own a racing go-kart? I am planning to join a team this summer and go to all the tracks in the tri-state. I need some tips and suggestions, websites will really help too. If you do have a kart, please post pics. Thanks

Hey, thanks for the link. That site is nice!! By the way, nice kart. What motor are you running in it? I'm planning on getting an alcohol or a 125 or 250 dirtbike motor to put in mine.

Sorry for reviving. But If you are in phoenix, arizona you dont need to get your own kart. I know K1speed go kart phoenix (http://k1speed.com/phoenix-location.html) has an electric rental with 20hp in it and can reach upto 40mph. Thats fast for an indoor track.

As much as i hate to admit it....the electric go-karts are the only way to go for many tracks....they are torquey and very quick. and they put the power to the ground like no other.

^Not surprising. Electric motors are making technological leaps and bounds nowadays. For model planes, the ideal choice is electric power, we have planes all the way up to 1/2 scale (that's 1/2 the size of a real plane) that fly better on electric power than they do as a gas version!

It's just a matter of time until an electric cart can destroy a gas cart in every way, shape, and form.

I've raced karts and they are tons of fun, make tracking my real car seem boring.

I wanted to do something like this also. Not to race but to play with/tune a 250r motor. I have a couple of them sitting around and figured it would be a good way to play with this motor. I have kept my eyes out for a 'shifter kart'. I dont know a blessed thing about these and have never seen one in person. I dont know how the shifting/clutching setup is done. It seems that a 250R motor should adapt but have been waiting to see one up close before dumping 1k+ into something that wont work for my application

I ran a couple races with my buddys cart. It's fun to do. ran a brigs animal motor. way more power compared to the old flat heads. Got me thinking about racing a 4 banger this summer.
